Two Days Dedicated to AI/ML at ASSIST Academy

Two Days Dedicated to AI/ML at ASSIST Academy

Do you agree that software developers, regardless of their specialization, should prioritize learning about artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) for the benefits these technologies offer?

AI and ML streamline development processes by automating repetitive tasks and allowing developers to focus on complex problem-solving. They also enhance software quality by analyzing data to uncover potential issues, leading to fewer errors and more robust systems.

Overlooking these areas could place developers at a competitive disadvantage in a technology landscape where AI and ML are becoming increasingly integrated.

With a strong focus on technological trends and a desire for pioneering, ASSIST Software has organized AI/ML Days. It is an event that allows colleagues to learn from one another, especially from our AI experts, and stay relevant in an ever-changing market by effectively adapting to the rapid advancements shaping our future.

AI/ML Days is not the first event that the ASSIST AI Team organizes, but it's by far the most complex. With two days filled with presentations and discussions that aim to help those interested in AI to understand it better, the event is open exclusively to ASSIST Software employees.

Focusing on a team working with great success on various projects involving AI/ML, the expertise shared at the ASSIST Software headquarters these past two days will be instrumental in preparing other software engineers for an out-of-the-box approach to innovation.

”ASSIST Software is entirely committed to being a pioneer in the future of tech, including in fields such as AI/ML.”

Day 1:

The first day of the workshop will begin with a welcome and introduction from Irina Petrariu , VP of Research at ASSIST Software. Our colleagues have shown great interest in attending as it will cover a wide range of topics related to AI and ML, including data engineering, supervised learning, computer vision, and unsupervised learning. These topics are essential for software developers everywhere to understand AI/ML and build modern, data-driven applications.

Here's a quick breakdown of the topics:

- Data engineering involves building and maintaining the infrastructure that supports AI and ML applications. This includes things like data pipelines, data storage, and data processing.

- Supervised learning is a type of machine learning where a model is trained on labeled data. This means the model is given a set of input and corresponding output data. The model then learns to map the input data to the output data.

- Computer vision is a field of AI that deals with the automatic analysis of digital images and videos. Computer vision systems can be used for various tasks, such as object detection, facial recognition, and image classification.

- Unsupervised learning is a type of machine learning where a model is trained on unlabeled data. This means the model is not given any information about the input data. The model must then learn to find patterns in the data independently.

Day 2:

Day 2 attendees will cover a wide range of topics related to AI and ML, including reinforcement learning, large language models (LLMs), and LLMs for real-world applications (RAG). These topics are critical for software developers to understand to build modern, data-driven applications.

- Reinforcement learning is a type of machine learning where a model learns to take actions in an environment to maximize a reward. This is similar to how humans learn to play games or navigate the world.

- Large language models are AI models that can generate text, translate languages, write different kinds of creative content, and answer your questions informally.

- LLMs for real-world applications are a type of LLM that is specifically designed to be used in real-world applications, such as customer service, chatbots, and content generation.

Our focus on AI / ML

Recognizing the transformative power of AI and ML, this two-day event fosters a growth-oriented environment for software developers. Participants gain a comprehensive understanding of these powerful technologies by delving into foundational topics like data engineering and supervised learning alongside advanced concepts like reinforcement learning and real-world applications of LLMs.

Interactive sessions and exposure to the ASSIST Software team's practical projects further solidify this knowledge. For the general audience, ASSIST Academy has also organized Tech Cafe events on the topic of artificial intelligence.

One such example is an extensive public discussion with Claudiu Filip, a machine learning engineer at ASSIST Software who shared his knowledge and answered questions about AI in an event that attracted students and senior developers alike.

ASSIST Academy goes beyond traditional training, fostering a vibrant environment of upskilling, mentorship, and professional growth.

Through a multitude of internal events exclusive to ASSIST Software employees, alongside internships and student contests like the ASSIST Tech Challenge , the Academy champions continuous learning and knowledge sharing. It democratizes software development, making it accessible, fun, and a powerful tool for shaping the future.

Our overall focus on AI/ML guarantees ASSIST Software's constant surveillance of trends, new tech, best practices and research.

Inspired by the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to innovate, ASSIST Academy empowers individuals to reach their full potential and contribute to the world of tomorrow.

Follow ASSIST Software and stay tuned for upcoming ASSIST Academy events!
