TWO COURAGEOUS LADIES

TWO COURAGEOUS LADIES

On June 1, 2019, these two ladies Eje Blessing Idagu and Gloria Henry walked up to me after an amazing @lydafrica event in Lagos. They had an interesting proposition - "Can we work with you to bring LYDA to Calabar"

This was not a first as I'd had several people walk up to me to request that the conference holds in their states. For a number of these people the proposition was in the euphoria of the moment, they didn't show commitment afterward.

I almost concluded this would be same, however, I responded to them saying "Whatever happens after today would let me know how serious you ladies are"

Honestly, I had very little expectations, plus - My original plan was to have the next LYDA in Port Harcourt so hey, "this must be a distraction" I thought. I was wrong.

After the conference, every week these ladies kept calling. In fact, they called one time to say they'd set up a core team and had begun planning with them. Long and short - I decided to go with the flow and LYDACalabar was a massive success.

I learned a number of life lessons from these ladies. They taught me that in the journey to life, plan but observe your environment & do not be rigid as you proceed with the plan.

Oftentimes, life would bring you opportunities that would alter your original plan, do not be too rigid to not discern that it could be a blessing. The most flexible control the system.

Also, be careful with generalizations - using previous experiences to judge people. Give people a chance to prove themselves. Observe their patterns, patterns never lie.

Finally, I learned that destinies are tied to your inaction. Imagine if these ladies had self-doubt and talked themselves out of suggesting LYDACalabar? Imagine the impact that thousands would have missed?

In your head, you refusing to take action is you shielding yourself from the hurt of rejection. Whereas in reality, it is you shielding the world from the positive impact of your dreams.

In the words of Maya Angelou "Courage is the most important of all virtues because without courage we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency"

Be Courageous. Live Your Dreams

Both on air personalities. You need to see them during our toastmasters program whenever we meet. Miss Gloria speaks with elegance and has a lot to share( we call her the speaking nitingale) if you don’t listen carefully you’d not be able to pick her grammatical errors if she makes them. Mrs Idagu on the other hand is somebody I’ve come to love because she pushed me out of my comfort zone. Asked me a question that made me see the importance of being prepared at all times. They’re two beautiful ladies and I see them impacting the world around them.
