Two big obstacles Showt will overcome to become a global success in 2025

SUMMARY

There are two massive obstacles that Showt must overcome to make Showting something done by (nearly) everyone on the planet (that has a device with an internet connection).?

  1. PEOPLE DON’T FEEL THAT POLLS ARE TOOLS THAT EMPOWER THEM AND SHOWT LOOKS A LOT LIKE POLLS

Superficially, Showt looks like standard old-school polls/surveys, which makes it tricky in the early days of Showt to educate the media and investors about the essential mechanisms of Showting, and why those mechanisms are key to inventing a new category: Instant Global Voting -- and how it gives the 99.999% -- the public -- a chance to be heard like never before.

We at Showt are always asked “Who asks the questions?” and we have to patiently explain “There are no questions!” because the media asking questions would mean that the public can’t express themselves until the question is posed and posted.?

Instead of coming up with questions, we work diligently to curate and update our global Showtee database (entertainers, athletes, politicians, political parties, sports teams, brands, products, etc.) -- currently at nine million and always growing -- so the public can Showt Yes/No 24/7 without waiting for the media to ask a question.

For example, Lionel Messi and all the top football players, teams, managers, and owners in the world are already in our database. Messi and Argentina win the FIFA World Cup 2022. If Showt had launched in 2022, we’re confident that at least a billion people would have Showted Yes or No for Lionel Messi.

2. NEED FOR CRITICAL MASS -- For Showt to break through, it cannot start slowly and build up over a few years. Showt needs a fast, healthy, critical mass of lots of media companies posting Showt widgets and reporting on ShowtCounts, and lots of Showtees posting ShowtBacks.

The Showt Team takes pride to point out the limitations of the social media giants, and compare Showt to show how -- for certain things -- we are better.

How many people on the planet knew about Messi’s triumph at the 2022 FIFA World Cup (3-4 billion?), and would have expressed a positive message for Messi if it was free to do, took two seconds, the opportunity to Showt was presented to them EVERYWHERE, and there was no downloading or registration required?

The guy is the GOAT! He has 511 million followers. That is not a misprint. (C. Ronaldo has 726 million!)

Instagram is a wonderful image curation platform, but it is NOT in any way shape, or form an instant global voting platform.?

Instagram showed how poor it is at capturing such massive global sentiment. 70 million as the most liked Insta post? Pitiful! Poor Meta. The greatest athlete in the world -- with half a billion followers, and ONLY 70 million likes on his post.?

This is the kind of global event Showt is made for.

Could we get one billion unique Showters for Messi the day after his World Cup triumph? Yes (when the global and local media blasts out the "One Billion People Showt Yes for Messi, Spain Showts the Most" story, and Messi’s social media team submits a ShowtBack i 65 languages).?

Could we get one billion unique Showters for Queen Elizabeth II the day after her death? Yes (when the media all over the world report on this huge number, and the Royal Social Media team submits a ShowtBack). (It will be absolutely fascinating to see the relative ShowtCounts -- which country felt the most positive/negative feelings for Her Majesty.)

Could we get one billion unique Showters for Volodymyr Zelensky the week after the Russian invasion started? Yes. (The country-by-country breakdown will be fascinating.)

Could we get one billion unique Showters for Vladimir Putin the week after the Russian invasion started? Yes.

AND

LET’S REVIEW THE BENEFITS BEFORE WE TALK ABOUT HOW WE WILL OVERCOME THE OBSTACLES

When we started Showt we knew we would have a difficult time ahead educating the media about the difference between standard polls/surveys and Showt, and the need for a healthy critical mass of Showting, but the benefits of Showting were too great.?

BENEFITS FOR HUMANITY

The benefits for humanity for our success would be great: providing a way for everyone with an internet device to quickly and easily express themselves and be heard instantly globally -- anonymously and safely -- about nearly everything -- and be counted, remembered, and replied to by the Showtee they Showted about.

BENEFIT FOR SHOWTEES

The benefits to the Showtees (entertainers, athletes, politicians, brands, political parties) would also be great: a chance to allow everyone in the world that had the slightest opinion about them to express that opinion and feel heard and appreciated.?

BENEFIT FOR INVESTORS

The benefits to the investors would be enormous: how much would the world’s first and only Instant Global Voting Platform that had the potential to be used by nearly 4 billion consumers 24/7 on Day 1 / Launch Day be worth?

BENEFITS FOR ADVERTISERS

The benefits to advertisers would be game-changing: they get to tap into the real-time, inner feelings of 4 billion consumers and reply immediately -- while the feelings are at their peak with a targeted message. Showt No for a car company and that car company and all its competitors will bid to send them the Showt advertisement.

BENEFIT FOR BROADCASTERS AND NEWSGROUPS (TRYING TO SURVIVE IN THE NEW DIGITAL WORLD)

The thousands of old-school media groups all over the world -- trying to survive in the age of the FB/Google duopoly -- desperately need to make some extra advertising revenue and offer their viewers and readers an easy powerful way to engage with the content.

Unlike the giant social media platforms (that suck traditional media groups dry) Showt does NOT snatch the reader/viewer away from partners who insert the Showt widget. The Showt widget keeps the reader/viewer right there to

  • Showt
  • be instantly heard by the world
  • see the ShowtCount that they are a part of
  • read the ShowtBack from the Showtee
  • and see the targeted advertisements (manna for revenue-hungry media groups)

It’s a win/win for the media groups, the viewers/readers, and the Showtees.

OK, SO SHOWT IS WORTH DOING, BUT IT’S HARD TO LAUNCH AND GET TO CRITICAL MASS?

We focused on reverse engineering a platform that would be comfortably and safely used by someone even if they were semi-literate or didn’t speak a major language such as English, Chinese, Spanish, or Hindi, or lived in a country where free speech is problematic.

WORLD-CLASS ENGINEERING TEAM

Our world-class engineering team was hand-picked and headed by TS Ramakrishnan, who built and ran Yahoo Messenger (global) for seven years (which became the world’s leading IM platform), and then was hired by Mark Zuckerberg to be FB's first Head of Product Engineering, and then was part of the founding team at AdMob, which became the world’s leading mobile advertising company (acquired by Google).?

THE FACTORS FOR OUR BREAKTHROUGH SUCCESS

Early on in our testing phase, we realized that we need these factors for high Showt conversion:?

  • High-profile, high-impact Showtee
  • ShowtBox is placed in relevant stories (not on the home page or irrelevant stories)
  • ShowtBox positioned “natively” inline in the body of the story, not on the periphery
  • ShowtCounts reported on by the media
  • Showtees provide ShowtBacks to engage and delight the consumer

To explain we created a matrix of factors and inserted some of the representative numbers we got in our testing phase with publishers all over the world:?

This is what gives us such great hope for post-launch.?

We found in our testing that people love to Showt if it’s for something important, and the ShowtCount is reported. (When we saw that 27% conversion rate in the leading news site in Italy on a story about the upcoming US Presidential election, we all celebrated (see chart above). And that was with no ShowtBack from the candidates, and no follow-up reporting on the ShowtCount -- and Showt was still in testing mode.

Imagine how much more they will love it and Showt when they see:

  • their Showt is replied to by the Showtee (with a ShowtBack)
  • most or all the media reports on the ShowtCounts all the time
  • all the media outlets have embedded Showt widgets nationwide and globally so the whole world can quickly, easily, and anonymous Showt

FOR SHOWT, HALFWAY TO CRITICAL MASS IS LIKE HALFWAY TO BEING PREGNANT

All giant Internet successes started small and grew gradually. You know the list. We take Google, WhatsApp, Amazon, Twitter, and TikTok here.

One reason for this lack of a need for quick success is simply because all these businesses were based on existing business models. Search engines, instant messaging, e-commerce, micro-blogging, and short-form videos were common when the above companies were launched. They didn’t have to educate anyone about what they were doing.

No one who first used Google in the early days of Google said “What a great search result, but I won’t use this anymore until there are a million people using it.”?

No one that had two or three friends or family members on WhatsApp urging them to join said “I won’t join WhatsApp until it’s used by ALL my friends and family.”

No one that wanted to buy a hard-to-find book in Amazon’s early days ever said “I love the price, and I’m excited to find this book is available, but I’ll wait until Amazon has ten million customers before I buy anything from them.”

SHOWT’S “BIG-LAUNCH” STRATEGY TO HAVE?

Once people see how easy it is to Showt they will return to it whenever they want to express themselves and be heard globally.?

The habit is easy to get into.

Everyone wants to be heard, but if it takes more than a few seconds they would probably not do it.
