Twitterwatcher - why twitter and #TRX?
A question popped up multiple times - why did we decide to start our adventure with the Tron Coin #TRX, instead of Bitcoin, Ethereum or any other coin and why only twitter?
In this article, I would like to focus on two of the essential aspects of twitterwatcher.
The Coin.
We are the tool for monitoring trends, performing the sentiment analysis on the data set. Then we present the data with a context for our users so that they can make their educated guess on what to do next.
Saying that - our solution requires data. After performing an initial review on the coins currently in the market, we decided we will go with a coin that provides us with the best possible data set. Tron (#TRX) is big as for the community, the "hodlers" as well as the haters.
Comparing the number of tweets between the #TRX and #BNB, you can quickly notice how big of a difference there is. Whit #TRX oscillating around 15 tweets every 5 minutes #BNB has around 5 of them. With more data, we can see more patterns and less white noise.
The Social Network.
"The Internet allows the small guy a global marketplace. But technology is harmful in the sense that we get too much information from it. Because of the web, we get ten times the amount of noise we ever got, which makes harmful fallacies far more likely." Nicholas Taleb
My thought process when picking up twitter was simple. I want to have a fast and straightforward tool to review the data. Luckily I pick twitter - as it turned out later on - the best network for people to share their opinion in the crypto-net.
Why?
Why is Twitter the best tool to have unbiased information about a coin?
Lack of moderation.
Facebook groups, subreddits are a place for people of similar interests to gather and discuss. The majority of them focuses on strengthening the decision their participants made. The Tron groups on facebook are focusing on keeping the investors happy with the decision they made. Posted news goes through the administrators before being published, and negative information about Tron is never reaching the wider audience.
A similar situation happens with subreddits.
The moment we will add more data sources for our sentiment analysis, we will face biased information. This move will introduce white noise to the data we are presenting.
We believe adding more sources is possible, but hard - as we must pick the right information sources. We are currently investigating slack, and telegram channels - with similar results as the mentioned facebook groups.
What next?
New coins should pop up in the next few days, and we are trying to spend a bit more time investigating what will have the most significant representation. Other than that - stay tuned, new and amazing things are on its way.
