The Twitter Exception, And Exceptions

The Twitter Exception, And Exceptions

Though exceptional in many ways, Twitter, does not do it all. That said, what does? Having limits is a good thing. Wrapping your head around unlimited is taxing; it is good for some things but not in everything. The things Twitter gets done well: local community and trust building consistency.

Because Twitter is set up as a promoter of ideas, etc., rather than mostly a presenter of info and images to friends and family like Facebook, Twitter provides different benefits. Benefits include its promoter base of users: businesses, media, artists, organizations and other promoters.

Twitter as a billboard is very unproductive. Few Twitterers get most of their messages read. Tweeting 20 times a day makes it more likely, but again, if you don't have very loyal viewers or readers, the results will still be minimal. Therefore direct connections must be made.

Connecting with Twitterers directly has the most powerful impact. For dental practices, I recommend a community building approach. It has many advantages over dentistry message posting alone. A direct connection easily beats a-maybe to not-likely connection that often does little or zero.

Like television did not replace radio, radio found its real niche: live talk radio in its various forms. Twitter is best used in a direct contact way with those local businesses or people who participate regularly, one tweet or more every couple days. Twitter has different audience expectations and effects.

My approach to Twitter is to directly engage with other local Twitterers so dentists can build a true local community that keeps in touch a few times a week at least. This core of Twitterers helps build a new off line local community. The Twitterers become new referral agents.

My Twitter marketing services change the dynamic by turning the tables on the usual pattern of messages, and more messages about dentistry. While the dental info method has benefits, it will never open up another channel for developing new patients. Dental practices must directly engage on Twitter in some fashion.

The dental offices I work with are able to directly connect with other local Twitterers because my service comes bearing gifts that keep giving. Interacting with many high profile local Twitterers achieves a lot of awareness fast. It also builds trust from familiarity, and to gift of co-promotion!

Without a regular effort to engage local Twitterers directly, dentists are mostly writing little notes to themselves. Twitter, the way Niche Dental employs and deploys it provides the opportunity to engage, and recognizing local individuals, businesses and media is the best and easiest way to do it. Simply provide a platform.
