Twitch's Homecoming
Geoff Woliner, CPCM ????
Author, "The Path to Perfectia" series ?? / Founding Member, Octopus Movement ?? / Editor-In-Chief, The Daily Stuffing ??
This one hit hard. He was my age. And seemingly had everything going for him.
Social media is awash today with stories of this tragedy. The shock of it all. How could he? Someone so successful? Such a light to so many? So talented, accomplished and, from all accounts, a guy with such a huge heart?
But the shock isn't that he left us at 40. The shock is that he gave us 40 to begin with.
Any creative in any field will understand this intimately.
That which flows through you to create, is also a powerful tug that pulls you home.
You can't be well-adjusted to this world and be an artist. Art, in any form, and in the case of Twitch, the form of dance, is an expression that this world in and of itself cannot be adjusted to as is.
It needs to be twisted and re-shapen, given profound colors and patterns, beautiful geometric poses and motions, jokes and poems and lullabies and biting novels.
To be a creative is to be in this world, but not of it. To be in love with existence, and in a constant state of warfare with it.
Sometimes, the state of warfare prevails. As with Marilyn. And Robin. And so many. Yesterday, Twitch joined their ranks. Yesterday, his fight saw its last battle. Yesterday, he went home. To the source of that inspiration. To the nexus of that beauty and luminosity. Home to himself. Home to the radiance of infinity.
Knowing the battle he faced, the 40 years he gave us can't be mourned, only celebrated. What a gift of a man. What an artist. What a shining light in this morass of mundanity.
From the ashes of his battlefield, he gave us the flowers of his art. Of his mentorship to so many. Of his support and his love and his creative expressions that left us aghast in wonder.
RIP to one of the absolute greats. RIP to a warrior who fought for 40 years. Thank you for everything.

2 年It's absolutely heartbreaking!! May God bless his soul. Also, the way you've perceived and described his battle is really profound..
I write about victim blaming and bullies
2 年Sobering take, Geoff Woliner, CPCM. Ignorance is truly bliss. Creativity is an energy that has the ability to both create and destroy. It's definitely a high wire act. Such a loss. So sad.

2 年One of my greatest leaps in maturity was when I realized that we are all seeing things & sensing the universe from such a unique... different... marvellous perspective. So when someone dies it is, in a way, the death of an entire world. This thought makes me sad on so many levels & it's especially difficult when you find out that it was a suicide. Thank you for writing about Twitch & for allowing me to be part of the conversation Geoff.
