Twist the style to steer towards success

All leaders are identified by their unique styles. Over decades, the leadership mindset has been studied, mastered, and may I say- “typecast”. Most management gurus evangelize “rediscovery” of one’s avatar to standout of the crowd. Reinventing is inclusive of - soft attributes (compassion, kindness, etc), technical (domain expertise, hands-on etc), social stance (gender-equality, social responsibility etc) and finally rediscover being inspirational.
Here is a "3-way" mantra to realize that a tweak, a twist can go a long way for us leaders to shine bright and great:
- Learn from anyone
The 80’s Chinese kung-fu movies shows a leadership lesson where a monk learns kung-fu styles from a rabbit, a monkey, a cheetah and even from a wasted (drunk) man.
Twist this: Leadership expedition is all about learning these different styles to sharpen yours- you never know when you need one.
2. Be kind to yourself
Some of the most inspiring leaders have themselves committed bigger blunders, every time you mess up you sink in fear of being labeled as a "bad performer".
Twist this: Fear is the enemy of risk-taking, without risk there is no innovation. Take risk, own-up and move on. Don't be harsh on yourself, give yourself the benefit of doubt and move ahead.
?
3. It does not cost to be nice
Leaders portray a straight face, less wordy and act busy. They give inspiration talk to masses but are invisible to ground staff. This power-distancing adds barriers between a leader and his follower.
Twist this: Be nice to all, smile, you will stand-out, increase your accessibility and connect to know the underbelly of your organization. A king should know his people's state of mind for leading them effectively.
Just these 3 for now…straight, simple, and succinct.
Tell me if there is anything more that you would like to twist!
Best wishes leaders!!!
