"Twinkle-toes Devlin" gets it going with BBC Strictly’s Oti Mabuse

Saturday night was a memorable occasion for BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing star, Oti Mabuse. The talented dancer was joined on the dance floor by yours truly and we danced a very energetic Samba to a full house at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel. As you’ll see from the video below, both of us enjoyed entertaining the audience with our respective dance styles.

My lucky number (456) was drawn from the raffle which meant I won the opportunity to dance with Oti Mabuse and make every other male in the room extremely envious. Given no time to prepare, I joined in the spirit of the occasion as best I could and hopefully put on an admirable show for the room, so much so that one guest, Gerry Bonner awarded us a double 10!

The glittering evening was the “Little Less Strictly Come Dancing Ball” in aid of The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice when eight amateur dancers partner with professionals to challenge for the coveted Little Less Strictly Glitter Ball. As part of the process, the dancers have to raise money through sponsorship and this year the contestants raised a magnificent ￡100,000+ for the hospice.

This year’s winner was Jean Bonner, Director of Clean Sweep and husband of a very excited Gerry Bonner (who kindly awarded me my double 10 score). Jean and her dance partner, Frederico Le?o Ribeiro were one of two finalists who then performed their routine for the judges for a second time. Dentist, Philip Friel and his dance partner, Kerry Tierney put on a wonderful performance but were pipped at the post by Jean and Frederico. However, congratulations must go to all the contestants who helped make it a wonderful evening.
