Twilight. Remembering Our Fallen Heroes Through Suicide
I was contacted by a dear friend of mine John Mulet, for Irish Angel to participate in the "Twilight Memorial" to remember and honor Officers who have lost their life through suicide. Every year fallen Officers are commemorated during Police Memorial week, so this John''s way of honoriing those lost through suicide. They fought the hardest battle of their lives, that PTS, addiction and mental health. The struggle is real for so many. Here is how you can be a part of honoring our Heroes.......
Written by John Mulet,
"Knowing the passion Amanda’s followers have for issues concerning PTSD in the first responder community, I wanted to extend a personal invitation to you all to participate in a yearly event that my company, Mission First Partners hosts.
?The event is called Twilight, and it is a yearly remembrance of law enforcement lives lost to suicide. We hold it every year on the day of the winter solstice, which This year will be December 21.?We chose this, the shortest day of the year to remember all of the lives that were far too short due to suicide, PTSD, and other service related mental health conditions. It features a series of videos recorded by individuals in the law enforcement and mental health communities and their supporters. These videos can be remembrances, tributes, words of encouragement, expressions of solidarity in supporting LE mental health, or anything else a participant wishes to say. From the beginning we have wanted everyone's voice to be heard so we do not limit the length of videos, nor do we edit them in any way. The videos are compiled, played, and they are timed to end at the moment of sundown (ie twilight). At that time we ask dispatchers for all of our participating law enforcement agencies to call for one minute of radio silence to remember those we have lost. This year the Governor of New Hampshire has recorded a video for us, as well as both of our United States Senators.
?Twilight was originally conceived as a local event for New Hampshire, but last year the COVID pandemic forced us to go virtual with it at the last minute. Ironically that was the best thing that could have happened because it made us realize that by keeping the event virtual we could open it up to so many more people around the country. I would like to get more and more survivor families involved in this memorial every year. I think that is one of the things that will put a real face to this problem instead of it just being about statistics. I realize what a big ask that is of these families. But if you look at our video from last year at:?Twilight 2020 ?I hope you will think that we can take this very difficult subject and approach it with a great deal of respect and sensitivity, and present it in a way that honors the lives of those we lost.
To make the recording of these videos as easy as possible this year, we have partnered with a company called tribute which has set up a web page that will allow anyone to record a video and upload it directly to us. You can visit us at:?Mission Forst Partners, Twilight ?and click on the submit tribute video button to record and upload your video. If you wish to record a video yourself, I can also provide you with a link to upload the finished video to. We will be recording video’s through December 16, 2021 Please feel free to extend this invitation to anyone you think might like to participate, and thank you for your support."

2 年Thank you John Mulet for this memorial. We all have stories filled with grief and loss due to suicide. Once we can talk about this is when we truly begin to heal and honor our heroes and begin to break the stigma. I applaud your mission and courage to do this. #BreakTheStigma
