Tomorrow marks a day in history, twenty years ago, that many of us who witnessed it, will never forget. This post isn't a political article, it isn't a right or wrong statement and I certainly won't be extolling the virtues of what has been achieved in either the western world, or in recent events in regions that many of us will never know.
It is just a small remembrance for all of those who sadly lost their lives and those who have lost them since in conflicts that achieve very little. In all of them it is more often that not the innocent people who suffer.
I have been fortunate enough to stand in front of this memorial and I can tell you the overwhelming feeling of loss and grief was something I have never felt before and I found it hard to actually walk away from the site once I was there. It was as if I was being disrespectful being there, and then equally indifferent when it came time to leave.
When this sad landmark arrives tomorrow I will take a moment to remember where I was stood, as I watched in horror the events on a small television in a company Reception. I will remember how it made me feel and how I was gripped with fear in the days after when I had to take a flight somewhere. I will also remember that most of the victims of this attack and many of those who have suffered since then, as result of it, are innocent.
Surely, with all of our power, intelligence and wealth we should be able to find a better way than this to resolve any issues that affect our people and our planet.
