Subtle Signs it's Time to Pack Up and Move On

The tech professionals we've helped all had ambitions to advance their skills and lifestyle. Most were more focused on doing their job than out looking for a new one. There have been some who didn't realize their current company was stifling their growth. They needed a nudge in the right direction.

Been thinking about the next step in your career but have been too comfortable to make the change? Here are twelve signs it may bet time to get a new job search rolling.

  1. The position you were hired for hasn’t turned out as you expected or were promised.
  2. Your day is filled with production support tasks that keep you from growing your technical skills.
  3. You’re more interested in technologies that aren't used at your current company.
  4. Your company’s tech stack is behind the times.
  5. Your work isn't recognized because management doesn’t understand your contributions.
  6. You’re restricted from contributing or providing input on big projects.
  7. You’re unnecessarily micromanaged.
  8. The company culture values nepotism over meritocracy.
  9. You have no clear growth path or opportunity for promotion.
  10. The organization is so flat, even your senior co-workers have no opportunity for advancement.
  11. You feel you're underpaid compared to your peers at other companies.
  12. You’re just not being utilized to your full potential.

If you answered yes to any of these, Astute Search can uncover new opportunities that align with your ambitions; working with the technology leaders we respect and are already doing business with.

Been using a mix of the following reasons for a while (selecting a position, reason to stay, reason to leave). Some negotiable and some non-negotiable. Reasons Employees leave: labor rate (competition paying fair market rate), location (lower cost of living), telework?(quality of life), reduced commute (quality of life), less travel (quality of life), more options for leave/time off?(quality of life), less out of pocket costs for medical/dental benefits (quality of life),?education benefits/training/experience (career advancement), promotion (career advancement),?less overtime, better company/client culture (quality of life).??Overall, it depends on where the individual is at in their career and what will improve their current situation.
