Twas The Night Before Christmas (Truckerfied Version).

Twas’ the night before Christmas, and all round the Earth,

Most creatures were sleeping off an eve filled with mirth.

Their stockings all hung by the chimney with care,

And nary a wonder how the gifts had got there.

The children were nestled, snug tight in their beds,

While truckers were driving their 18 wheel sleds.

And Mom in her nightie, and I in my shorts,

Were comfy in bed streaming various sports.

When out on the lawn there?arose such a noise,

I slipped out of bed to check on the toys.

So downstairs I went and peered out toward the street,

and saw eight sturdy reindeer pulling a “Pete”,

It’s familiar old driver, fast asleep at the wheel.

He’d been driving all night in his sleigh made of steel.

I knew who he was, for he lived ‘cross the street,

He spent weeks on the road and seldom could meet.

It was then that I realized how important he was,

My holidays are happy from the hard work that he does.

All the food, and electronics, the clothes, and the toys,

that bring happiness to my girls and my boys.

I thought of how rarely I saw this hardworking guy

His weeks away from his family, it just made me cry

I had to do something, for this wonderful man,

With my wife and his, we soon came up with a plan.

So we ran to the store as just quick as could be

And back with some presents and the last Christmas tree

We closed off the street and ran lights all around,

And decorated the tree and presents we found.

As dawn approached we were ready to go,

So we honked his air horn with a short little blow.

He sprung out of his seat, his eyes open wide,

and gazed in wide wonder at all the presents outside.

He climbed out of the cab with tears in his eyes

So very happy to see his Christmas surprise.
