TVH Sponsors the Uncharted Fishing Team

Last weekend saw the Uncharted Fishing Team embark on a thrilling adventure at the St Georges Basin - Big Dog Bash, a fishing competition with a purpose. With 147 registered anglers taking part, every entry made was in support of the Sussex Inlet Marine Rescue. With a commitment to sustainability, this catch and release tournament required anglers to bring their A-game, despite the challenge posed by the recent heavy rainfall earlier in the week, which had left the estuary system flooded with fresh water.

The challenge was to reel in a maximum of 5 flathead in a single day, with some strategy. We took to the water, armed with our lures and determination, eager to make our mark on this highly anticipated event. When the day was done and the catches were counted, we were proud to have placed 27th out of the 147 anglers, a testament to our skills and persistence. It was a day filled with excitement, challenge and purpose.

We have a number of exciting competition events scheduled in the coming months, including all five rounds of the 2023 East Coast Bream Series, the Tuross Head Flathead and Bream Tournament and the Gold Coast Flathead Classic. The 2023 East Coast Bream Series commences on 26 March with the first round being held on our own spectacular Sydney Harbour. We're also thrilled to be participating in the Western Sydney Bream and Bass Club Series. This local competition brings together between 15 to 20 boats per event across 8 fishing tournaments for the 2023 season, with the first tournament being held two weeks ago on the Nepean River.

Behind every great angler, there's an even greater photographer, capturing those key moments at these events. In our case, that photographer is none other than the Mrs. She's the one who's always ready to snap a photo or record a video of our fishing adventures, making sure that every one of our sponsors is featured and shining across all our social channels (especially TVH). She's the one that keeps us in check. We're thrilled to share some of her work from our competitions so far. Unfortunately, she couldn’t be there last weekend at St Georges Basin with us... so those are on us.?We've recently upgraded our camera equipment with the acquisition of a GoPro. Although we're still getting the hang of it, we're excited to see what kind of footage it will capture and how it will enhance our fishing experiences so that our sponsors feel part of these exciting event days.

Please also allow me to share a little about our team's motivation for 2023 and beyond...

The fishing world is evolving, and we're ready to embrace the change. This year, we're taking the sustainability fishing challenge, and all competitions entered will be focused on lure catch and release. It's a new chapter in our fishing journey, and we're eager to see how the year will evolve.?

In the past, we've been known as bait fisherman, but this year, we're stepping out of our comfort zone and exploring new techniques and methods. With lure fishing, we're not just testing our skills, but we're also making a conscious effort to promote sustainable fishing practices and protect the waterways and their habitats that surround our beautiful country.?

We're eager to see what the future holds, and we're confident that this change will bring new challenges and experiences. We embark on this new venture to become more conscious, responsible anglers, and make a positive impact on the fishing world and are excited to have TVH along for the ride!?
