Despite all the talk about cord cutting, streaming, social media, and digital marketing, it’s easy to forget that TV remains the dominant medium.
Here are four facts that demonstrate the continued power of television as the dominant medium.
- People spend more time with TV than computers, smartphone, and tablets combined… by a factor of 5x.
- When people are on digital devices, they spend almost as much time streaming TV as they do on social media.
- Popular syndicated shows, such as Judge Judy and Jeopardy! have more people watching ads in 30 minutes than all of the people watching all videos on YouTube on any day.
- TV reaches more people in a day than YouTube and Netflix reach in a month.

5 年A great article, however, the data is for persons 18+. Would like to see the info broken out for 18-34, 25-54 and 35-64. The other concern I have for TV/Cable is the length of the commercial breaks (mainly cable) and the number of times the same 3 or 4 commercials air over the course of the program. I've timed a number of programs over the last several months- 7-10 minutes of a program followed by 5-6 minutes of commercials. As a buyer of TV advertising, I can honestly say I would not be too happy if my clients commercials ran anywhere but the first commercial in the break! I am a firm believer in a solid media mix that is based on my clients target audience (age, income etc).?
