The Turtles Picnic

The Turtles Picnic

The Parables are a way of telling stories that usually bring in their content lessons related to our behavior and that serve for our reflection. This one shows us how mistrust can ruin everything...

It is said that a family of tortoises decided to go on a picnic, and, as they are naturally slow, it took them a few days to prepare for their walk.

They finally left the house to look for a suitable place, and on the second day of the trip, they found the ideal place!

It took them a few hours to clear the area, and then they unpacked the picnic basket and finished the arrangements.

When they were ready to eat, they found they had forgotten about the salt. They all agreed that a picnic without salt would be a disaster, and after a long discussion, the youngest turtle was chosen to go home and get the salt, as it was the fastest of the turtles.

The little tortoise wailed, cried, and kicked, but agreed to go on one condition: that no one would eat until she returned. The family agreed and the little turtle went out to get the salt.

Three days passed and the little turtle still hadn't returned. Five days… Six days…

Then, on the seventh day, the eldest tortoise, who was so hungry, announced that he was going to eat, and began to unpack a sandwich.

When she took her first “bite” of the sandwich, the little turtle came out from behind a tree and yelled:

- Heyyyyy!!!! (I got you!!!) I was sure you guys weren't going to wait for me. Now I'm not even going to get the salt!

I leave here the reflection that in order to have Synergy in a team we need to have a behavior not only of cooperation/collaboration, but also of trust and respect. And that, as we saw in our Synergy lecture, things can be easier and bigger (and better) if built by a team engaged in a single goal.

Success!!
