A Turtle on a Fence Post

One day as a kid, Dr. Robert Lamont stared out of the school house windows and sat fascinated at what he saw.
A turtle sitting on a fence post.
He was mesmerized because even as a young boy his critical thinking was sharp enough to conclude the following:
He didn’t get there on his own. Someone put him there. That exact spot. In this exact moment.
The turtle was completely incapable of having arrived at his current position in life all on his own. He was too weak to scale the fence and too clumsy to balance his body. His own attributes, skills, and abilities could never have lead to this crowning achievement.
Resting comfortably on a fence post, enjoying the summer breeze.
Which brings me to this - Is this any different than it is with us and God?
Maybe you’re coming off of a huge accomplishment, some smashing success that has altered the trajectory of your entire life. Your fence post is a big win.
Well, you don’t get there on your own.
Maybe, however, you’re knee-deep in the weeds of life, just trying to scrap and claw your way out to see the next day. Stress is trending higher and sleep is trending lower. Your fence post is a big loss.
Well, you don’t have to endure this all alone.
Whether it’s an easy season, a hard season, a planting season or a harvesting season - know this and rest in the Truth.
God has you here for a reason. In this place. At this time. It’s not by accident or happenstance.
You’ve been perfectly placed in this position to serve some greater purpose for His kingdom. Use that knowledge as motivation and inspiration to go forth today boldly - bursting with clarity, confidence, and conviction.
