Have you ever wondered why the turtle takes its time? Or why the cheetah seems to do it all in a rush? Or did you think it all came simply down to speed capabilities (like everyone else)?
- The "slow vs fast" assumption at first glance
Am I wrong to say that after reading the title, your mind was quick to assume a "Slow vs Fast" based debate? No? Unfortunately it's not about that, but just so you're not entirely disappointed, I'd like you to quickly (in your mind) place your bet on which would win a very important race.
It's easier for our minds to summarise information by taking the most evident/obvious factors in situations than to put on the "questioning lens"... but is that the kind on mind you would hire run your company or perhaps even your personal finances?
As an entrepreneur and/or leader in the fast approaching fourth industrial revolution, it is of paramount importance that you work towards developing a mindset that is not confined by past norms and impossibilities as all those are soon to change (if some haven't already). If for some reason you don't believe me, remember that in the very earth we live in, it was once fact that the earth was flat.
History has shown us that - generally speaking - majority has never been in favour of the new, the unknown, and the disruptive. I mention this so that you can be comfortable in knowing that "crazy", "senseless", "dreamer", "over ambitious" and a whole lot of other adjectives will be used to describe most of what your untamed mind will pitch. I'm pretty sure that if you asked our good scientist Galileo and some of his colleagues back in the days, they would definitely agree.
My Bonus Point:
In my opinion, a great measure for whether or not you are on the right track to being a world changer is getting just around 15% of the room believing your idea is possible. The rest will probably be a choir of "it's impossible", "it's crazy", "its too ambitious", "what!?" and similar. This way you'll have 85% of the attention when you finally do it.
- Go fast or go far? (For those still on the slow vs fast bet)
The average life span of a turtle is 10 - 80 years, some types easily going over 100. On the other hand, our cheetah friend's average life span is a good 10 - 12 years... and could maybe get to 20 if they push their luck.
You see, an important race for all creation is the race of life - where the turtle appears to be the reigning champion against the cheetah.
I'll leave you with this question for 2019: Would you rather go fast or go far?
Does this change your bet? Let me know
