It's a good day. A climate scientist was elected as Mexico's first woman president, Vermont passed a first-of-its-kind "polluters pay" law, it's officially June, and an all-new Climate Changemakers advocacy campaign starts NOW!

We are digging into food waste, a sneaky top climate solution. It has massive methane-reduction potential and an abundance of smart, scalable policy solutions. Scroll on for the new Action Plan and an?invite to this week's Hours of Action to kick it all off.?

Last night, I co-hosted a special campaign kickoff event! We were joined by a brilliant expert guest, Dr. Mamta Mehra PhD . She's one of the key researchers behind why Project Drawdown ranks reducing food waste as a top climate solution. Now, she's a co-founder at RegenIntel doing incredible work to up-skill professionals and organizations in the climate space.

The conversation was insightful and uplifting and it launched each of us into action mode – see the group photo! This event is just the beginning.

Happy June, changemakers! Let's start this summer together –

New climate advocacy campaign starts today: reducing food waste!??

Landfills are a sneaky leading source of methane emissions.?Project Drawdown considers reducing food waste the #1 climate solution in a 2?C warming-limit scenario. GOOD NEWS ?? First-ever polluters-pay law

Vermont has become the first state to enact a law requiring fossil fuel companies to pay a share of the damage caused by climate change. Republican Gov. Phil Scott allowed the bill to become law without his signature late Thursday.

“Finally, maybe for the first time anywhere, Vermont is going to hold the companies most responsible for climate-driven floods, fires and heat waves financially accountable for a fair share of the damages they’ve caused.”??

OUR IMPACT ?? We contacted 130 reps in 31 states

A bonus edition of Owning Our Power drops this week to recap the collective impact of the Climate Changemakers transmission reform campaign.
