Welcome to Love Mondays More: the weekly Linkedin newsletter that delves deeper into the ideas and concepts driving my Love Mondays email newsletter series .
Why ‘Love Mondays’? Mondays are usually anything but lovable. Studies show it’s typically our week’s low point and Guinness World Records has even dubbed it the "worst day of the week”. So I aim to provide a 3-minute caffeine hit of content to fire up the other 10,077 minutes of your week and stave off the Monday malaise. Don’t just live Mondays, Love Mondays!
Let's face it: uncertainty can be downright scary. Our brains are wired to avoid surprises, and in a world where change is the only constant, it's easy to feel overwhelmed . But there is a silver lining: uncertainty also presents incredible opportunities for growth and development - if we know how to navigate it.
So how do we take on life’s rollercoaster ride of uncertainty? By developing a mindset that embraces change, challenges the status quo, and celebrates growth.
The power of a growth mindset
Have you ever noticed how one negative experience can overshadow ten positive ones? It’s not just you - our brains are wired to pay more attention to negative events than positive ones, a phenomenon known as negativity bias . While it served our ancestors well by keeping them alert to potential threats, in today's world it can leave us feeling anxious, pessimistic, and stuck in our comfort zones.?
?“If uncertainty is unacceptable to you, it turns into fear. If it is perfectly acceptable, it turns into increased aliveness, alertness, and creativity” ~ Eckhart Tolle.
By cultivating what Carol Dweck PhD coined as a growth mindset , we can turn fear into motivation, uncertainty into possibility, and negative experiences into catalysts for growth and development. And as we train our minds for change and stretch ourselves beyond our comfort zones, we unlock a host of benefits that make us better leaders and team members including:
Life is an unpredictable journey, full of surprises and challenges. But it's not the challenges themselves that determine our success or failure; it's how we react to them. While we may have a natural tendency towards a fixed or growth mindset depending on the challenge or circumstances, we always have the power to choose how we respond. We can choose to let fear and uncertainty hold us back, or embrace them as opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive. The choice is ours.

1 年Holly Ransom I was at the event in Brisbane today. Awesome talk. Very interesting and timely for me at the moment. I am bringing up three little ones and I encourage them everyday to question everything they see, hear and are told. The only thing I may have to warn them about is the dreaded Tall Poppy Syndrome. Let's hope by the time they are in the workforce that has gone by the wayside.
