More than half of people who leave their jobs do so because of their relationship with their boss. Smart companies make certain their managers know how to balance being Professional with Being Human.
These are the bosses who celebrate an employee's success, empathise with those going through hard times, and challenge people, even when it hurts. Job change is an inevitable process and there is nothing wrong in seeking & making a Job change.
Places where you make recognisable impact is where you spend maximum time. If you're good, you've the right to outgrow your job after making an impact & Good people tend to go to good organisations.
Alignment between Organisation & individual is important. A GREAT job in an organisation which does not align with your values is a losing proposition.....Job change does not changes you.
If due to inherent incapacities one is not getting a raise or promotion, simply hopping organisations will not fix it.... FIX THE GAP & if you can't, then come to terms with it.
Always do the reference check- prerogative is not always of the employer; ask recruiter, reach out to clients, customers, suppliers & ex-employees....look for patterns that approve or not of what is on the website....if possible spend a day/week at the proposed workplace before signing the acceptance letter.
Know the trade off- if you expect more compensation do not complain about office politics. Once in with your new job-try to blend in....Build value before seeking recognition. Do not build your future at the cost of previous organisation, destabilising it, leaving it hollow-this is considered UNPROFESSIONAL.
Professional always take the goodwill of everyone when they leave-You never know when you'll need them in future.
