On the turning...

Isn’t it interesting?

Sometimes, we only see the significance of an inflexion point in hindsight.

It appears so obvious in retrospect that we wonder why we didn’t see it as such at the time.

On other occasions, we know that we are approaching a decision point. We know it is coming and are preparing ourselves for the shift it will entail.

And then there are times when we are in the midst of it. What happens around us, sometimes independently of us, will shape what happens next—the inevitable shift resulting from what we are encountering right now. The question for us becomes whether we will go with the flow or try and fight it.

This weekend, I am going to experience two turning points.

The first is the equinox. This inflexion point in the earth’s rotation ushers in the fullness of autumn (or spring), which has implications for us all.

And the second?

It’s gathering face-to-face with lovely people I’ve known in an online conversation group for the last 3-4 years.

They are coming to share the day in this beautiful hidden valley in South West Wales, some coming from as far as Ireland.

And I can’t wait to meet them, yet I know that we will all be changed in some way as a result.

This is a time of turning for all of us, and I sense that change is in the air.

Will we run towards or away from it?

Pause. See differently. Re-story…

This week

In amongst all the preparation for our gathering…

A few good words

INVITATION TO LINGER

Slowing down

enough to notice the

little signs of grace,

spacious enough to

become attentive,

water curiosity and

delight in possibility,

the unfolding of a

more generous life.

I took this poem as the text for Be More Poet episode 5: Lingering with the Intention of Life, published in early May. It is a short episode – I hope you enjoy it wherever you listen to podcasts.

There’s a good reason for this. We need two ears to listen well.
