1. The Struggle of Starting Over in a New Country
When I moved to Australia, I knew it would be challenging, but I couldn’t have anticipated the unique difficulties COVID-19 would add. Isolated, with no support network and barely enough money to get by, I often found myself questioning if I’d made the right decision. I’ll never forget the moment I looked at my bank account and saw just $0.73.
The weight of loneliness and uncertainty was immense.
However, it was during these moments of hardship that I realized an essential truth: no one is coming to save you—you have to save yourself. This realization became the foundation of my approach to life’s challenges.
2. A Shift in Mindset: Viewing Setbacks as Opportunities
In those first few months, I struggled to adapt. Having been surrounded by family my whole life, I was used to having someone there to help solve my problems. But now, alone in a foreign country, every difficulty was mine to solve.

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is to expect the unexpected. Life is unpredictable, and challenges often arise when we least anticipate them. But instead of fearing uncertainty, I now embrace it. Setbacks are inevitable, but by building resilience, we can face them head-on and emerge even stronger.
