Turning Rejection into Triumph

Turning Rejection into Triumph

Unleash Your Potential

We've all experienced that familiar pang of disappointment - eagerly pursuing a company or opportunity, investing time and effort, only to receive that dreaded rejection email.

It stings, especially when it's a company you would have loved to work for.

But here's the thing: a rejection doesn't have to be the end. In fact, it can be the catalyst for leaving a lasting impression and opening doors to future connections.

Remember: Have you asked for feedback or connect for any other profile, if they [Recruiter's] come across

Let me share a story with you??.

Last year, I interviewed a candidate who showed great promise but was a little too junior for the role we had available. I had to reject her, but months later, she reached out again about another position in my company.

I remembered her potential and made sure the hiring team knew about her. Long story short, she's now my colleague. So, even if it doesn't work out this time, remember that hope is never lost. You can leverage this moment to secure a job offer down the line. All you need is a strategic approach.↗?

When you faced with a job rejection, it's normal to feel upset. However, resist the urge to direct those emotions at the hiring team. Remember, the person delivering the rejection likely feels neutral or even empathetic towards you.

??Responding with anger will only tarnish the positive impression you've made.

Instead, take a step back, allow yourself some time to process, and respond when you've moved past the initial disappointment.??

Here are some friendly options:??

  1. "Thank you so much for letting me know. Although I'm disappointed, I genuinely appreciate the time you spent speaking with me."
  2. "Thanks [NAME]! It's a bummer it didn't work out this time, but it was truly great to meet you and learn more about the company."
  3. "Thank you for informing me. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the team, and I'll definitely keep an eye on [COMPANY] for potential future opportunities."

It's important to create a sperate sheet for Recuriter's Feedback [Help you to nurture your interview better]

At this stage, it's also acceptable to request your feedback. Be gracious if you do receive any, but bear in mind that some companies may be reluctant to share specific feedback due to legal concerns. Nonetheless, it doesn't hurt to ask.

While it's acceptable to reapply in the future,

?Avoid bombarding the company with repeated applications right after a rejection.

?Most systems flag multiple applications, and your recruiter will likely recognize your name.

?You'll become memorable, but not in the way YOU want.

Instead, Try These:

?Utilize your existing relationship with the recruiter.

?Emphasize your enjoyment of meeting them or the team, and express your ongoing interest in the company, hoping for a mutual fit in the future.

?When any recuriter's post the requirement in social media including LinkedIn Share in your Connection. Support them.

?When you or either they come across another job opening at the company which you're interested in, submit your application and reach out to your previous recruiter.

?Remind them of your prior interaction, mention what you've been up to since then, express your excitement about the new role, and highlight how you've acted on any feedback received.

?Even if your recruiter doesn't immediately recall you, a thoughtful email with a reminder can catch their attention.

NOW, Keep in mind that you might be applying for a different role than before.

??Articulate what motivated this change, whether it's pursuing a new field or discovering a passion.

??Providing your recruiter with all the relevant information enables them to better advocate for you, giving you an advantage over ?Blind applicants.

Instead of merely adding random company employees on LinkedIn, capitalize on the connections you made during the interview process.

?Ask your recruiter if it's okay to connect on LinkedIn to stay in touch.

?Extend the same courtesy to other individuals you encountered during the process.

You can also send a LinkedIn connection without asking, but be sure to include a note expressing your delight in meeting them and your desire to maintain contact. This approach also safeguards your #jobsearch in case your recruiter becomes unresponsive or leaves the company.

??Consider setting reminders?? to check in with your recruiter or the person you connected with during the interview.

While not everyone may be open to regular coffee chats or Zoom calls, it's worth a try.

??Schedule a friendly hello every six months, reminding them ''Who you are''

??Building and nurturing relationships over time is key to successful recruiting, and you can apply the same principle to your #jobsearch .

??If they don't respond, respect their boundaries and refrain from further contact.
