The Turning Point...

The Turning Point...

There was a point back somewhere around 2008 when it really hit me.

I knew that I wanted to keep growing…keep expanding my business.

There were two locations already plus a corporate contract…and an online component that was starting to really grow.

Until that point I’d always thought that expansion was only going to happen by adding more locations.

There were several sites in each of 3 different cities that were under consideration for the next couple of steps…and there had even been dinner with an investor that could expedite growth.

But I was traveling to the second location about 90 minutes away from my home and location #1 a couple times a week already…what was it going to be like if there were 4? How about 8?

What if the original target of 12 locations was reached?

Would I ever be home?

Sure, at some point there could be a district manager or even a couple…but that would eat away at the margins and somewhere around then it hit me…

…is that the business that I want?

One that has me running all over the state?

One that means taking on literally millions in debt between leases, equipment and build out?

Ultimately the answer was ‘no.’

There were plenty of ways to grow and adding physical locations was only one…and it wasn’t the one for me.

I saw that there were opportunities everywhere once I’d stopped thinking that adding physical locations was the only route to success.

New profit centers in the existing businesses.

Infoproducts.

Coaching.

Membership sites.

Masterminds.

Licensing.

Certifications.

Retail.

Franchising.

Publishing.

And there was simply putting more people into the current things that were already offered too.

Looking back, I guess this was my first real thought about building the Ideal Business.

I waited until I was 33 to get married to Holly as well as then enjoying the privilege of having Tyler as my stepson…so I had no interest in settling for spending really limited time with them.

But rather than saying ‘I’ll sacrifice my professional goals for my personal ones’…I learned that when you’re really open to opportunity, there are no shortage of options to achieve great success.

You just have to decide and act.

Any one of the paths that I listed could provide a tremendous opportunity to earn a life changing income, have a profound impact and create a lifestyle that fit what I wanted personally.

Now, I’m not sure I understood that at the time so I’ve pursued them all at one point or another and had some success with all of them. (At least multiple six-figures in all…seven in most.)

Think what I’d have missed if I settled for what I originally thought was the only path to success.

I’d have never found my Ideal Business.

And I wouldn’t be working to help you find yours.

So start thinking about what you REALLY want.

What is REALLY important to you.

Creating that business that will allow you to feel like you are doing what you’re meant to be doing, known for what you want to be known for and one that’s allowing you to live the life you want.

Because having your Ideal Business starts with deciding what you want…and what you don’t.

And If you want me to help you build your Ideal Business…just comment & let’s chat.

I’d love to make your ideal your reality.
