Turning personal vision into business strategy

Turning personal vision into business strategy

Well hello there!

I loved hearing from many of you this week saying my blog galvanised you into action with your vision. One message nailed it nicely “this was the kick up the arse I needed to get my Vivid Vision finished”

You’re welcome!

And I hope you’ve had a better week than me; on my way to a workshop in London on Friday I had a fight with the pavement and spent 7 hours in A&E over the weekend. Nothing broken, just a very messy face.

Last week we focussed on getting clear on your personal vision.

?How did you get on? ?

Because this week we’re translating personal vision into something tangible for your business.

This isn’t just about creating a mission statement or a generic goal—it’s about shaping your business to align with what you actually want.

?You want to set these parameters before you bring your team into the conversation, otherwise you could end up with a hideous “vision by committee”, SO far removed from what you wanted it makes you want to scream!

?

Here’s what you need to figure out, so your business works for your life—not the other way around

What’s your purpose? What’s your business here to do in the world?

Values: What personal values do you want to bring into your business?

Lifestyle: What hours do you want to work? Where do you want to work from? How much holiday do you want to take?

Financial goals: How much do you want to earn? What are your long-term financial goals?

Exit strategy: Do you want to sell, exit, retire, or build another business? When?

Joy: What kind of work will make you proud and bring you joy?

Reputation: What do you want clients to say about your business?

Team: What sort of people do you want in your business, and what opportunities will you offer them?

Your role: What sort of work do you want to be doing?

Most importantly: How do you want to FEEL?

What you want, not what you should do

I’ve paid more than enough over the years for "expert advice" from growth coaches who told me what my strategy should be. And whilst it’s great to get advice from more experience people Not once did they ask what I actually wanted.

Which is why I ended up building a management accounting practice with a team of 12, when I hate managing people and being office bound. The happiest I’ve ever been is working solo, spending my time with clients. And as a happy coincidence it’s when I’ve earned the most money!

Having total clarity on what you want gives you a North Star to keep aligning back to.

??

Now it’s time to bring your team in

I do believe it’s really important to involve your team and for them to be part of building your business. Now you can share your vision and get their ideas on how you get there. Other people can have brilliant ideas that would never have occurred to you.

?

Vision vs reality

So, if you’re looking at your business and thinking, “this doesn’t match my vision.” Good. Now you know.

?Don’t panic, don’t freak out. Don’t abandon your vision as unrealistic and na?ve, and feel stuck with what you have.

The real mistake would be sticking with a business that doesn’t align with what you actually want.

?Knowing you want something different is a brilliant thing – it’s your opportunity to change it.

?

Why a Vision-Driven Business Thrives

Are you thinking this all sounds a bit idealistic?

A business built around your vision is financially stronger, lasts longer, and actually makes you happy.

It’s not fluffy—it’s smart. And if you’re not building a business that aligns with your life, what’s the point?

·???????? Your team will be more engaged and energised, creating a better culture, and attracting people with shared values

·???????? Your clients will be drawn to your business and stick around longer

·???????? Vision-driven businesses tend to drive more innovation and have more energy

·???????? A unique vision gives you a competitive advantage

·???????? It encourages longer-term thinking rather than short term profit goals

·???????? Sticking to core principles often leads to more sustainable growth

·???????? When your business aligns with your personal goals you’ll find more balance, and have less stress and more joy for you and your team

So, What’s Your Next Step?

I hope that you’ve now got clarity on your personal vision. It’s time to bring it into your business; don’t wait for the perfect moment - what can you do this week to move a step closer to aligning your business with your life vision?
