TURNING AN IDEA INTO A REALITY

TURNING AN IDEA INTO A REALITY

It's incredible looking back through old sketch books of ideas and original names for concepts and ideas.

Our latest product Bae Juice went through about 5-6 name changes and went through 30-35 drafts of our packaging from colours, layout and compliance.

There was a key turning point in the development of our product that we knew was the specific stage in which start ups face to continue or not.

THE CHALLENGES?

  • Financially we had committed everything we had owned. But budget was running thin getting the product to Australia.
  • We had missed some key milestone events in the Melbourne calendar that was going to really help our launch (AFL Grand final, Melbourne Cup, Christmas + New Years etc)
  • Doing something completely unfamiliar like importing a 7600kg container full of Korean pear juice. Having to have the answers and work with a large logistics company was a massive challenge and insanely stressful.

TURNING POINT?

  • Having an understanding of this being the key time that people fold and choose to no longer pursue an idea like this.
  • Pushing the barriers financially, sourcing anything from anyone possible. Friends and family, making sure to not offload equity without having a value on our ideas potential.
  • Making it happen, calling a friend of a friend thats imported something, someone who has worked in cosmetics and sold hair wax to ask about importing regulations and compliance issues. Making that call and just getting to the next step.

So since we have our first shipment land with 50,000 units and seeing consumers at events holding and drinking our product has had a big impact on me over the last few weeks helping me have some satisfaction in the hard work put in to date.

Check out video below of us visiting South Korea to watch our product come to life after months and months of hard work putting the pieces together. It was one of the best days of my life being able to drink the first Bae Juice.
