Lagos Business School Sustainability Centre
Bringing together theory and practice on sustainability and business in Africa.
Welcome to the June Edition of our Newsletter, According to the?United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the 51st edition of?World Environment Day?(WED)?was a record-breaking success globally, with an unprecedented 3,854 official events and tens of millions of online engagements drawing attention to how humanity can reverse the tide of three often-overlooked perils of land degradation, desertification and drought.??This year’s World Environment Day campaign focused on land restoration, desertification and drought resilience under the theme?“Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration.” It turned the global spotlight on the importance of restoring lands, pushing back deserts and tackling droughts. But this isn't just a time for reflection — it's a call to action. Whether it's adopting cleaner and renewable energy solutions, reducing waste by adopting circularity in resource management, procuring more eco-friendly products, or advocating for sustainable environmental policies, every action counts.?The WED is a call to action for?individuals, communities, and businesses worldwide to rethink, redesign, and rejuvenate our approach to environmental stewardship. It is also a clarion call to innovate and integrate sustainable practices into every aspect of our lives and operations, prompting us to reimagine our relationship with nature and our role in protecting it.
In this month's edition, we explore groundbreaking initiatives, emerging trends, and success stories on?sustainable business practices. From eco-friendly business practices to cutting-edge green technologies, we highlight the transformative efforts reshaping industries and communities. We trust you will leave this with new inspiration on the?crucial role businesses can play in?environmental stewardship and driving sustainable growth.
Together, let's embrace the spirit of World Environment Day and commit to a greener, healthier planet and a more resilient future for all.?Enjoy your read!
