Turning Ex-Prisoners into Entrepreneurs in 5 Weeks: A Bold Plan for a Safer South Africa

Johannesburg, South Africa – The Human Entrepreneur, in an exciting new partnership with the Department of Correctional Services, has announced a groundbreaking programme to reduce recidivism and reoffending by teaching entrepreneurship skills to parolees and probationers in the Thembisa area.

High rates of re-offending are a serious issue in South Africa. It costs the country R10 billion annually to keep offenders in prison. That's why The Human Entrepreneur is launching a revolutionary 5-week programme to help ex-prisoners start their own businesses, thus giving them a viable alternative to crime.

"We're not just teaching people how to fish; we're creating fishermen," said Willem Gous, founder of The Human Entrepreneur. The plan is to train 20-30 individuals and support them in starting their own profitable businesses. "Our innovative, hands-on approach doesn't just teach entrepreneurship; it embeds the entrepreneurial spirit," added Gous.

Real-life results prove that this is more than just an idea. In a pilot project, a group of 57 young people were able to start 30 businesses in just 21 days.

The organisation now seeks public support to test this programme. They require funding to kickstart this transformative initiative in Thembisa, starting at the end of October 2023.

This is not just an investment in the lives of ex-prisoners; it’s an investment in the safety and prosperity of South Africa. Support this crucial programme and help create a brighter, safer future for everyone.
