When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? Recently a newsletter called The Hustle, geared toward entrepreneurs, asked its readers what they wanted to be when they grew up.??
They found the top three answers were a doctor, a teacher, and an athlete. If you are in that mode thinking you’d like to go back and get a do-over in your career to do what you wanted when you’re a kid, perhaps there’s another option. You might be surprised to learn that by owning a franchise that may be in the space of healthcare, sports or education, you can tap into that passion you had for that kind of career. But rather than going back to live that dream, you can leverage? your experience? in the corporate world to own a business in and around these areas. Let me explain.
Franchises for Sports Enthusiasts
If you wanted to be an athlete when you were growing up, there are sports performance franchises? that put you in the role of helping other young athletes improve their performance so perhaps they can live their dreams. In fact, one of these franchises helped Caleb Williams, Heisman Trophy winner and the Number One Draft Pick QB get to where he is today. His father actually owns one of these franchises.
In addition there are also a lot of fitness brands and even a fundraising business where you're working with coaches and student athletes in high schools.
Health and Wellness Franchises
If you were somebody who wanted to be a doctor when you grew up, there are a ton of businesses that are all about health and wellness. There are a lot of businesses where you can get that feel of helping people with their health. Some actually employ physicians as medical directors and Nurse Practitioners or Physicians Assistants as the leaders of the business. These include med spas, men’s health, chiropractic and physical therapy. There's a wide range of businesses that might be a good fit for you.?
Educational Franchises?
If you wanted to be a teacher when you're a child, there are definitely education related franchises where you can leverage your corporate know-how and use it. You don't necessarily have to have that experience. Some of these franchises include preschools, STEM and STEAM related businesses.??
Others of you may have had other goals of what you wanted to be when you were a child. For my niece, she wanted to be a mermaid.? Yes, an actual mermaid.? While I don’t have any mermaid franchises, I do have swim-related franchises.
