Turning Catastrophe into Conquest: The Inspirational Story of Christos, a WebPays Merchant

Hello Merchants,

First and foremost, we want to express our gratitude for your love and support for our first success story. Your gratitude inspired us to present another successful merchant journey ahead of schedule. Today, we have another success story to share about our merchant, "Christos." We hope that our merchant's story will inspire and reawaken the hidden entrepreneur in you.?

Christos was born into an orthodox Christian family in Bulgaria. He was the elder of his three siblings and was brilliant in his studies. His father was a garage owner, but he chose to be an engineer and completed his BSc in Computer Science. He was an alpha geek and one of the top students at his college. During the degree program, he developed his hobby as a chef, chose it as a career, and started his restaurant.

Everything was going fantastic before the Chinese virus started spreading all over the world. Governments soon imposed lockdowns and ordered all businesses to close. To survive this pandemic, they closed all their operations, including restaurants and garages, and started waiting to end this crisis.

It was April 5, 2021, and the country was again in lockdown. But their family attended the secret marriage function of a close friend in a secretly opened church. He says that it was their biggest mistake to attend that wedding. All 65 members who attended the marriage got affected by the Wuhan virus, along with his family.

His father and younger brother were chain smokers of cigars and were now affected by the Chinese virus. Due to their low immunity, their condition was getting more critical day by day. After 14 days of struggle, his father died on April 19, 2021, and his brother took his last breath on April 24, 2021. This tragedy broke them all; the family now has only three members. All their savings ended up in the hospital, and the family's responsibility fell on Christos' shoulders. He felt broken, but he knew he had to be strong to take care of his mother and sister.

His restaurant building was rented. In the early days of the lockdown, he was paying his rent on time, but for the last few months, he could not pay it due to zero earnings. Now, the landlord has taken all the restaurant stuff in lieu of the remaining rent. Christos was left with nothing, and he started thinking negative thoughts. But his mother and sister helped him overcome the situation. They reminded him that he was the college topper who had won many college-level awards for building games and applications.

Christos recalls his college talent and begins thinking about what to do. He finds that people are alone in this pandemic. All entertainment mediums have been closed, but they need something that can help them recover. He learned that the pandemic has seen a significant increase in internet consumption. Christos decided to build an online platform where people can play online games with others, bet on those games, and gamble on other live games. He called his college friend and asked for some help, and he started working day and night to build the app. He built the app in only six months, which was a very tough job.

After developing the app and website, Christos started advertising his app and began the operation on a very small scale. Initially, he started accepting payments in his personal account, as only a few people were playing on his app. But soon, he started gaining popularity, the number of transactions increased, and customers started asking for new payment methods as he was only accepting bank transfers. Christos went to his bank, told them about his business, and asked them to accept alternative payments. But the banks clearly denied it because they labelled this business type as high-risk. He didn't know what to do now.

Christos started searching for payment processors for his business that could provide alternative payment methods and handle a large number of transactions. Many payment processors also denied serving him, as they do not provide their payment services to high-risk merchants. No one was supporting his business, which made him frustrated. Soon, during the research, he found WebPays, the best high-risk payment processing company in Bulgaria. Christos approached WebPays, explained his condition to our salesperson, and asked about our services.

Our representatives listened to him carefully and then explained WebPays' features. He told Christos that WebPays could provide you with 35+ alternative payment methods, 100+ international currencies, fraud and chargeback prevention tools, access to the global market, and hundreds of other features that will help you streamline your payment processing. According to Christos's needs, we customized an online gambling merchant account for him that smoothly integrated with his website and application and fulfilled all his requirements. Now, his business operates in many European countries, including the UK, Malta, Albania, Greece, and Cyprus.

Christos is very thankful to WebPays, as it helped him in his hard time (when no other payment processor provided him with a payment gateway) and fulfilled all his payment-related requirements. Now he is planning to expand his business in Africa and only wants to continue it with WebPays. At last, he says, “WebPays is what a merchant needs—a complete solution for all payment-related problems". Despite the hardships that Christos faced during COVID-19, he overcame them and created a better life for his mother, sister, and himself.
