Turning a Casual Conversation into a Viable?Business

Turning a Casual Conversation into a Viable?Business

Are you tired of spending a fortune on clothes that you only wear once? Do you have a closet full of clothes and shoes that you never wear? also, you can get rid of them or make money from them.

If so, you’re not alone. Many people struggle with the same problem

A while ago I read a thread on Twitter by Mostafa Nageeb CPO at voilà’ discussing the “second-hand clothes market worldwide”, and I liked the idea so I bookmarked it for future reference.

A few months ago, I met Salama for a coffee. During our conversation, we discovered we had a similar problem: closets filled with once-worn dresses, suits, shoes, and other clothing items that were no longer useful to us but were too nice to throw away. We found how difficult it was to sell or donate these items, given the time required and the lack of a reliable platform

This casual conversation led us to identify a few key problems.

?? I developed it as a pitch deck version, catering to those who may not have the luxury of reviewing every aspect in?depth.

Based on this conversation, we hypothesized that an end-to-end online clothing rental and resale platform could solve these problems. A platform that offered a safe, secure transaction system, allowed buyers to check qualified clothing before purchasing, enabled fair pricing through data analysis, deliver it to their doorstep, and facilitated donations to local charities seemed like a viable solution.

I agreed to research the idea further to determine if this hypothesis holds true and if such a platform would have sufficient customer demand. After a promising initial concept, the hard work of customer discovery and validation begins with the help of “ChatGPT”.

Below here are the results of hours of work done by ChatGPT assistance (back when I did similar research for Easy Booking my failed startup, it took months to formalize this research)

Is this an idea you’re interested in? Now let’s dig into the details.

What’s next?

There is no clear plan for what’s next. However, maybe if there is a product designer (UX/UI) interested in taking it from here, we could work together on validating and refining the idea further and then create interfaces for an MVP.

P.S.?The research contained within this blog post has been assisted by ChatGPT. The results and plans proposed still require significant validation, testing, and refinement before determining the next steps for development.
