Turning 65? Turn to Me!

Who cares about your Medicare decision? I do. Choosing the best plan for you is what I do. We discuss your medical history, choices and how you can best protect yourself and your family physically and financially.

Medicare is our country's health insurance program for people age 65 or older. Certain people younger than age 65 can qualify for Medicare, too, including those with disabilities and those who have permanent kidney failure.

When it comes to Medicare, one size does not fit all. That’s why I represent UnitedHealthcare which offers a broad range of Medicare Advantage plans to fit your health and budget needs.

Get started with Medicare

Getting Medicare is a major milestone. Before you choose a path below, check out these 5 important facts:

  • Some people get Medicare automatically, and some have to sign up. You may have to sign up if you’re 65 (or almost 65) and not getting Social Security.
  • There are certain times of the year when you can sign up or change how you get your coverage. Open enrollment starts October 15, 2020 and ends December 7th, 2020.
  • If you sign up for Medicare Part B when you’re first eligible, you can avoid a penalty.
  • You can choose how you get your Medicare coverage.
  • You may be able to get help with your Medicare costs.

The program helps with the cost of health care, but it does not cover all medical expenses or the cost of most long-term care. You have choices for how you get Medicare coverage. If you choose to have Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) coverage, you can buy a Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) policy from a private insurance company.

Parts of Medicare

Social Security enrolls you in Original Medicare (Part A and Part B).

Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) helps pay for inpatient care in a hospital or limited time at a skilled nursing facility (following a hospital stay). Part A also pays for some home health care and hospice care.

Medicare Part B (medical insurance) helps pay for services from doctors and other health care providers, outpatient care, home health care, durable medical equipment, and some preventive services.

Other parts of Medicare are run by private insurance companies that follow rules set by Medicare.

Supplemental (Medigap) policies help pay Medicare out-of-pocket copayment, coinsurance, and deductible expenses.

Medicare Advantage Plan (previously known as Part C) includes all benefits and services covered under Part A and Part B — prescription drugs and additional benefits such as vision, hearing, and dental — bundled together in one plan.

Medicare Part D (Medicare prescription drug coverage) helps cover the cost of prescription drugs.

Most people age 65 or older are eligible for free Medical hospital insurance (Part A) if they have worked and paid Medicare taxes long enough. You can enroll in Medicare medical insurance (Part B) by paying a monthly premium.
