Turn Learning Into a Game!
Autism Care Partners
Empowering families to reach their potential through early diagnosis and exceptional, innovative, interdisciplinary care
Looking for a fun way to bring clinical work home? Let Autism Care Partner’s Clinical Director, Tara Faford, detail a great way to do this by setting up a scavenger hunt in your home. ?
You can work on many skills by setting up a scavenger hunt. These skills could include identifying items, following directions, waiting, turn taking, joint attention, and scanning the environment.?
?
Have your child gather items to be hidden around the house. Once all of the items have been retrieved, have your child close their eyes while you hide all of the items. This is a great way to work on waiting or counting! Once all items have been hidden, you can begin giving them directions on how to find the hidden items until all are uncovered. ?
?
This is a great way to get your child to scan their natural environment and to work on following directions in a fun way! If you have more than one child in your home, you can have each child take turns finding the items. What a fun way to work on clinical skills with the whole family! ?
