Turkey – Karelia

Turkey – Karelia

Point of shipment: Istanbul, Turkey

Point of arrival: ?Kostomuksha, Karelia, Russia

Range: 4507km

Weight: 3000 tons

Task: To deliver 3000 tons of equipment for iron ore producer, AO “Karelsky Okatysh” of Severstal Group.

Solution:? The first shipment of 1100 tons was delivered from Turkey by river-sea vessel by inland waterways to “Moby Dick” terminal in St. Petersburg. Then it was necessary to deliver the equipment to the plant in Kostomuksha, Karelia that's 950км by road.

It was necessary to deliver the cargo in the customs transit mode, as customs clearance was performed according to the Classification Decision and the equipment had to be consolidated at one warehouse. The nomenclature of the cargo contained both standard sized and oversized parts with high weight. The main difficulty in loading was that it was impossible to determine the nomenclature of the equipment to be transported in this vehicle until the actual loading of the vehicle was completed. This was due to the different linear dimensions and shapes of many of the cargo spaces.

There were also difficulties with oversized cargo. The second shipment of equipment (1,900 tons) included three cargo places, the width of which did not allow passing through the gate of the radiation control system. Therefore, a decision was made to load them onto vehicles through the fence of the terminal's territory. After loading, radiation control was performed using hand-held instruments. When delivering oversized items to Kostomuksha, in some cases it was necessary to block the federal road “Kola” - the only one transit route in these lands.
