Turbulent Times

The world of organisations almost always reflects the ecosystem and the realities and circumstances of the moment.

What happens around us matters!

We need to stop and think, zoom out and try to "read" what is happening and what threats and opportunities we have or can annul (threats) or enhance (opportunities).

What we do matters!

When there is irritability and social unrest, when self-centredness and the sterile dispute for another inch of ground prevail, when men long to be equated with omnipotent and omnipresent, when speculation and backroom games translate into vices and sprains, when we are manipulated but consent to it, when we take refuge in a world of liquid modernity and shallow affections, society feels that its common values are corrupted and systemic imbalance tends to set in.

This reality, which surrounds organisations because they are part of the same whole, contaminates or can seriously contaminate the internal environment of organisations. I think this is what, in cases of adevrsity, require more investment from all of us, in order to overcome hurdles and create new horizons of hope.

Values such as altruism, generosity, caring for others, be they colleagues, clients, suppliers or any other interested party, fade away and spurious envy, jealousy, laxity, productivity losses and organisational decline prevail.

Values such as altruism, generosity, entrepreneurship, social and environmental causes, building communities of peace and progress, care for the other, be it a colleague, customer, supplier or any interested party, fade away and pass spurious envy, jealousy, laxity, productivity breaks, organizational decline, social misery and intellectual dishonesty prevail.

It is at these times, and in this context, that we need unusual, lucid, serene, visionary, inspired, exemplary, credible, effective people who combine analysis and understanding with strategy and execution. Never did integrated leadership make so much sense. People who see further, better, who indicate paths and trends and who, in doing so, make us believe that they are riddled with good intentions and good intentions.

Pretending that the problems are resolved, or sweeping them under the debate, not solving the situations - rather, it postpones them and even, potentially, creates reserves of gunpowder that can later explode with greater effects.

Business organizations are formal spaces that seek to generate value for shareholders, for workers, for customers and suppliers, for all those who interact with our professional world.

Resources are always, in economic definition, reduced goods. It is necessary to know how to use it, in order to add value, which can also translate into the generation of new resources, which will remain for the times that follow the present.

These are worthwhile times and where we have to be resilient and find ways to get out of this collective crisis that threatens societies and, with it, the lives of organizations.

What we are willing to do also matters!
