Turacoz Team Perspective: What is Freedom?

Turacoz Team Perspective: What is Freedom?

On the eve of our 73rd Independence Day we were deliberating on what does freedom mean to us. Freedom is multidimensional and for each and of us the meaning different. I have collected some of the responses of my team and would love to know your thoughts.

Our Business head and a strong force behind what we do, Pooja Parashar says “Freedom for me is no need to choose between my work and family life and having a work life balance I am able to give my 100% to my family and work both with work from home option provided by my company, Turacoz. There no work or family hour. Every hour is for work and family and I strive for work life effectiveness rather than work life balance.”

Dr. Kavita Garg, who manages the challenging role of meeting timelines and quality of the technical team feels that “Having birth in a democratic country entitled me to freedom from the very beginning, the perception changed with time. When I was a kid, I what adults have: the power to take decisions and not asking from elders every time. Now when I am a mother of two kids with several professional and personal commitments, I realize that freedom is what I had during my childhood. For me, freedom is to make my own mistakes, realize them at my pace, admit them without any pressure, and with new learning and more wisdom.”

Our top performer medical writer, Kshama states “ Freedom has a broader definition than the dictionary meaning which states, ‘the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants’. Freedom to me means doing something because I like doing it, not because I am supposed to do it. Whether it is our work or simple chores at home or small things we do for people around us, everything we do should be something that we really enjoy doing, not just because it is the right thing to do. Another way of looking at this could be learning to enjoy what we do or what we know is the right thing to do. I believe that as soon as we start enjoying what we do, we feel liberated, and that to me is true ‘freedom’.”

Our most creative medical writer, Kripi feels “ is to think and express myself (in the form of words or actions or work) according to my thinking.”

Anupam, our diligent medical writer says “Freedom for me is that allows a person to make its own choices be it in speaking, working, wearing. Everyone feels happy in of restrictions. I always try my best not to restrict anyone around it junior, my helpers at home, my daughter. You will see people around you to be happier. So, stay happy and make others happy.”

Shikha Rawat, our HR and team builder a very different perspective to freedom “Helping stray and abandoned animals from hunger and thirst the real freedom for me. I’m a huge animal lover and I used to involve in feeding activities for stray dogs, cats, pigeons, birds etc. . For voiceless creatures in need is the real independence.”

Namrata Jeurkar, our sincere BD associate says “I remember, during school days, we use to recite a song which has this line -Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high.. .. ! . Freedom is to forgive and let ourselves free from our own little cage of hatred, self-sabotaging behavior and expectations of fitting into unnecessary society standards, created in our mind. As freedom comes with responsibility, we should live on our own terms with being responsible for it.”

Kamlesh, our ever smiling and team member says “To me freedom is when you give someone right to think. When someone’s opinion matter and individualism is valued. When you can express yourself fearlessly and learn from your actions. In this journey towards freedom, one should evolve as much as they can as an individual. Every day I am challenging uniformity and learning something new. And all this is possible when my choices and decisions are being respected. My parents, friends, colleagues all are part of my journey towards freedom. Perfectly said, “Freedom is nothing but a chance to be better”

Tanya Kapur, our motivated writer says “Freedom is expression- of thought, love, anger, jealousy, success, happiness, power and hatred! To me freedom is feelings, to be able to express myself without being judged, compared, or mellowed down. Whether I am angry or happy or upset is my reaction to things and I should be able to freely express my emotions and feeling without the world pointing fingers at me! My expression- my freedom!”

Deepika Murthy, our energetic and articulate team member “For relates to the most fundamental right bestowed on us yet the most the freedom to forgive. It cannot be misused, it cannot be seized, it cannot be questioned and it can never go wrong! We have the complete authority and freedom to practice it liberally and if only we could exploit this fundamental right, can our souls in the truest sense be free."

The take home messages from my brief interaction with a small number of people came up with the following expression of freedom. Freedom is

  1. Work life effectiveness rather then work life balance
  2. To make mistakes, admit without pressure and learn from them to increase wisdom
  3. Learn to enjoy what we do or what we feel is the right thing to do
  4. To think and express according to one’s own choices
  5. Not restricting anyone and making them happy
  6. Help voiceless animals in need
  7. To be yourself without seeking validation
  8. Give people right to think and a chance to become better always
  9. My expression; My freedom
  10.  Freedom to forgive

What do you think is freedom? How important is freedom? What will you do if it is taken away?
