Despite it being a Bank Holiday in the UK, and not to mention half term for those of us with school-age children, the tunnelling sector has continued to record a huge of achievements, so the team at Tunnels and Tunnelling International are pleased to take a few moments to share this week's newsletter on LinkedIn with you all.
Of course, as the the official magazine of the British Tunnelling Society , we are thrilled with some of the milestones achieved in the UK in the last week. That said there have been some wonderful stories flooding in from our international network also.
We have also decided to add a small section at the end of this newsletter of pages we follow on LinkedIn that may be worth checking out also. Some of them tunnelling and civil engineering related. Some of them tech and media related. Whatever has stuck out in the last week.

SECOND TUNNEL EXCAVATED FOR SNOWY 2.0
Future Generation Joint Venture - FGJV?has completed excavation of a second tunnel at Lobs Hole for Australia’s?Snowy Hydro Limited?2.0 pumped-hydro project.
The 2.93km emergency, cable and ventilation tunnel (ECVT) has been excavated and fully lined with 13,140 concrete segments by TBM Kirsten.

CGL COMPLETES 10TH RIVER CROSSING
Coastal Gaslink Pipeline Ltd?has completed micro-tunnelling under the Morice River in British Columbia.
The tunnel marks the 10th and final major river crossing for the 670km pipeline that will transport natural gas from north-east BC to the LNG Canada processing facility in Kitimat.
Subsurface conditions meant CGL reduced the length of the micro-tunnel by 28m so work is now starting on construction of the exit point.

THAMES TIDEWAY MARKS SECONDARY LINING ACHIEVEMENT

Tideway London's super sewer project has reached another milestone with the secondary lining of the Greenwich Connection Tunnel now passing the Earl Pumping Station.
The shuttering machine constructing the lining for the 4.5km-long tunnel has now covered 2.8km – 65% – of its journey to Chambers Wharf in Bermondsey. The primary lining was completed by TBM Annie in spring last year.

ITA-AITES?and the China Civil Engineering Society are calling for abstracts for the World Tunnel Congress 2024 (WTC2024) which will be held in Shenzhen, China, 19-25 April, 2024.
The theme of?WTC2024?is Tunnelling for a Better Life.
