HUDSON TUNNEL PROJECT TO RECEIVE US$6.88BN FEDERAL GRANT
The?US Federal Government?is to provide US$6.88bn to the Hudson Tunnel Project, meeting nearly half the cost of the new river crossing between New York and New Jersey.
The project has entered the engineering phase of the?Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Capital Investment Grants (CIG) Program, clearing the way to receive the vast majority of the federal funding needed for full construction.

VINCI-LED CONSORTIUM BAGS GRAND PARIS EXPRESS CONTRACT
The Intencités15 consortium, led by?VINCI Construction, has won the design and build contract for the first section of Line 15 West of the Grand Paris Express.
The €2.71bn (US$3.04bn) contract, awarded by?SOCIETE DU GRAND PARIS, covers turnkey engineering and construction of 14km of tunnels, five stations (Saint-Cloud, Rueil-Suresnes Mont-Valérien, Nanterre La Boule, Nanterre La Folie and La Défense), a set of tail tracks and 16 service buildings.

ACCIONA BUYS STAKE IN SAALG GEOMECHANICS
ACCIONA?has become lead investor of?SAALG Geomechanics, a software and engineering start-up that predicts real ground movement during construction.
The technology company has raised €3.65m through an operation partially funded by the?European Commission's EIC Accelerator program, in a mixed model of capital investment and subsidies, with?ACCIONA?as lead investor and?Creand (Crèdit Andorrà)?as financial supporter.?SAALG Geomechanics?aims raise a total of €5m.

FEHMARNBELT SEGMENT CASTING BEGINS
The Fehmarnbelt Tunnel project has reached a crucial stage, with casting of the tunnel elements under way.
The first 24m of the 18km-long immersed tunnel have been produced at the world’s largest precast concrete element factory in R?dbyhavn.
The tunnel will connect R?dbyhavn on Lolland in Denmark and Puttgarden on the German island of Femern.

ARGE BBT LAUNCHES SECOND TBM
The second of two TBMs has been launched on Lot H41 Sill Gorge-Pfons of the Brenner Base Tunnel.
The 10.37m diameter?Herrenknecht AG?TBM, named Ida, was launched from the Ahrental shaft near Innsbruck and will travel south to drive the western main tube. It will excavate a tunnel approximately 8.4km long. The first TBM, Lilia, was launched in May and is building the eastern main tube towards the Brenner Pass.
ARGE BBT, a consortium of?Implenia?,?Webuild?and CSC, has the €651m (US$707m) contract for the works.?

CRCHI?MEGA SLURRY TBM "JINGHUA" COMPLETE THE WEST LINE TUNNEL OF BEIJING EAST SIXTH RING ROAD RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT
On June 28th, Beijing East Sixth Ring Road Reconstruction Project reports that its slurry TBM "Jinghua" has successfully made breakthrough of the project west line tunnel, marking that the first line of China's longest shield machine expressway tunnel is fully through. The TBM "Jinghua" is the first China-made 16 m-level shield machine.
