Tuning Into Your Full Potential
The Simple Secret to Better Health and Wellbeing
What’s the secret to creating and maintaining better health and a better quality of life? What would you suggest? What would you choose as the number one factor for promoting good health and wellbeing? If you had to list all the elements that contribute to great health, what would put at the top of your list?
If you’re not sure of the answer, don’t worry. There’s an enormous amount of material online to guide your options and opinions. In fact, there’s a truly vast amount of advice on every conceivable aspect of healthy living. Most of the material focuses on the importance of a healthy, natural, balanced diet and the rest seems to dwell on the benefits of regular exercise.
Whilst these areas are obviously important and deserve full recognition for encouraging us to take good care of our bodies, there’s another aspect of healthy living that’s often overlooked. And that’s the profound influence of our thoughts and feelings.
The power of positive thinking is vital for maintaining happiness, good health and longevity.

The human mind is a complex mechanism that has the power to impact on every aspect of our lives. And that applies as much to our health as it does to everything else.
Let’s take stress as a prime example. If we consider the impact of prolonged tension and anxiety in our lives, we can immediately recognise the harmful effects of long-term pressure on our health and wellbeing. Our minds become sluggish, tired and inefficient. It’s hard to concentrate and process even simple information. Our sleep, digestion and energy levels suffer. Our creativity seems to switch off. The immune system can become compromised and then we open the door to more serious health issues.
But, the moment we learn how to calm our minds and control the flow of our emotional energy, we can begin the first steps on the return journey to a healthy body. We restore good order to our bodies as well as to our mental and emotional functions.
Happiness is the highest form of health.

The mind may be more influential than our simple example of stress reduction would suggest. Modern research, as well as the thousands of years of accumulated wisdom that inform many ancient traditions, support the surprising conclusion that our minds can drive our health in ways that we would rarely suspect.
It seems that our cells are more sensitive to our thoughts and emotional energy than we’d previously suspected. Forty years of research have brought us closer to the conclusion that our thoughts absolutely exert a powerful influence on cellular function. Clearly, if we’ve developed the habit of feeling stressed, anxious or worried, these negative energies exercise a correspondingly negative influence on how our cells function. Equally surprising, the deliberate application of positive thoughts seems to enhance cell function and promotes a naturally robust and energetic level of good health.
If that seems surprising, it’s fair to say that cellular research may produce even more radical insights into the way that everything’s connected.
Your health is what you make of it. Everything you do and think either adds to the vitality, energy and spirit you possess - or takes away from it.

Clearly, there are many mechanisms within the human organism that we do not fully understand. Yet, we can appreciate that the connection between our thoughts and feelings and cellular function provides a rich and fascinating area for further exploration. What we can extract from the current levels of understanding is the fact that cultivating a positive attitude can exert a surprisingly profound influence on our health and wellbeing.
