TUNDRA : THE RISE OF KNOWLEDGE SHARING
? Technologies markets are often controlled by small groups of economic players, making it hard for the consumer to find new alternatives that fully meet its needs. And yet without mutual assistance and shared skills, a lot of sectors would never have blossomed and succeeded. New impetus for selfless economic models spring up everywhere, leading to the creation of lasting collaborative projects.
At Hexadrone we are convinced that there is strenght in unity. From that philosophy we created the Tundra. Join us. ?

Users at the heart of the design process
Since the creation of Hexadrone in 2009, we have always put the customer at the heart of all our efforts. By trying to offer solutions to their demands we have worked on every aspects of unmanned air system. At first RPAS pilot specialized in aerial photography, then instructor, the CEO eventually decided to create an online store and to assemble ad hoc UAV. Handcrafted drones were mounted one by one to meet each customer specific need. Hexadrone has finally decided to capitalized on its craftmanship and knowledges accumulated over the years to add a string to its bow by becoming designer and manufacturer of serial professional drones.
From that decision is born the Tundra drone, the result of a 3 years development, of many tests and iterations. We have made it progress and have taken into account numerous experiences feedbacks. Much more than a drone, the Tundra is a project that raised from our will to create an intrinsically collaborative product. We have made it evolving step by step. The project has been very thoughtful and redesigned many times as evidenced by the three patents we have filed. We have worked hard on the ergonomics and innovative aspects as well as on the aesthetic one. Our work gets rewarded as the Tundra won in 2018 the prestigious Red Dot Design Award. The evaluation criteria are very strict and take innovation, functionality, product quality, ergonomics and lifespan into account. These criteria compose the main frame of reference, but each member of the judging panel has its own sensibility.
We have also created this UAV to fight against obsolescence, planned or not. Closed system have some undeniable advantages, the main being the affordable purchasing price. Nevertheless capitalizing on such systems is impossible because of the constantly evolving state of art. The brand new technology of yesterday appears to be outdated the day after. For a professional, it means renewing its fleet almost every six months and ends to be a financial bottomless pit. You can change each part of the Tundra individually, one by one according to technological changes. Its modularity also allows you to comply with your region or country standards as you can easily add a parachute and/or an engine cutter.
French craftsmanships
The TUNDRA’s structure (arm, body) has been created and designed in France, in collaboration with French industrial partners. It both ensures a great quality of material and a fast and eased after-sales service. We have chosen a short-cycle process as working with nearby based manufacturers to keep a tight control on every parts of the TUNDRA. It also guarantees the availability and quick delivery of spare parts for the after sales service. As we are growing, our team gets bigger and we are running out of space. At the end of 2020 we will move to a brand new building, dedicated to drones design and manufacture, still in Haute-Loire.
To create this opened technological platform we have had to paint the ideal UAS’s portrait. To do so, we have asked our customer to describe us their version of a perfect drone. Its requirements, the problems they usually meet, to enventually come up with precise specifications. The Tundra is above all a teamwork and will always be.
To meet the requirements we have created a hardened, sturdy body on which can be adapted damped or not accessories. Rain and dust proof the Tundra has been thought in an open innovation logic. Its numerous, standardized, primary and secondary interfaces make it the perfect base for each and every collaborative projects. An on-board computer TX2 Nvidia type-like dedicated opening has also been added to the structure. Adding a NUC INTEL is possible on upper interfaces.
Thanks to its interchangeable arms , easily change the drone’s configuration to adapt it to your needs or to the environment in which it will fly. This modularity allow a great variation of configuration and to change its operating life, wingspan, max. payloads weight according to the use.
Designed to last
Maintenance has also been a key point in the Tundra’s design. Maintaining the devices in optimal operational condition is a key point for many users, and more specifically for the French military market. When dealing with the French army, suppliers must sign a peculiar contract called ‘‘MCO’’ (Maintien Condition Opérationnelle). That is, the sold devices must be designed to be easily repairable by random soldiers during a mission (NT1), or by a skilled soldier at the base’s workshop (NT2). For advanced repairs, the device is sent back to the supplier (NT3). The TUNDRA has been designed to fully answer to these technical constraints.
We, at Hexadrone, are convinced that major evolutions can only happen through the creation of a common core of knowledge, thanks to collaboration. We want to coexist and work peacefully, in harmony with our current and future partners. From that philosophy is born the Tundra.
In this logic of collaboration we want to create an ecosystem around the Tundra. We wanted to build an affordable drone, aimed to be the base of your projects so you can focus on your added value. We know where we belong: we think, create and design supportive structures for your developments. Of course we will support you in your projects with our craftsmanship and experience. Focus your financial and human resources to build your difference and trust our structure to hold your projects.
Create your added value, shape your difference and let us offer our support.
