Well I’ve had a weekend. Called my shot with the Buckeye domination over Penn State continuing, and unfortunately with the demise of the Cowboys in contrast. It’s left me facing important questions on this very important election day. I’ve added a question to the ballot, and I’d like your help in deciding the very important question at hand. Who do I put a Super Bowl future on now that the Cowboys are cooked?
I was holding out a sliver of hope that the Cowboys maybe just hit a tough part of the schedule at the wrong time due to injuries, but the final blow to the only player they couldn’t afford to lose has forced me to deal with reality. This 2024 disaster of a season is over, and the rest of the season is just a matter of which defensive lineman or corner back is going to be available when the Cowboys draft in April. There is no hope for this regime, and probably no hope for the next one as Jerry Jones still sits atop the throne of garbage he has piled up for my entire lifetime. So with that I need some skin in the game, and I need to choose a horse for the rest of the NFL Season.
I’m going to present the options below, and at the bottom I will include a poll to decide my fate.
First off, there are rules. I will not be picking an NFC East team, one because I want them all to fail mercilessly, and two because neither of the “contenders” really have a chance to win it all. I will also not be selecting the Packers, 49ers, or Lions because I simply hope the fail spectacularly as well.
Our options are as follows.
Baltimore Ravens +600
My hometown team, I grew up in Maryland nearby and often have thought about how much better my blood pressure might be if I grew up a Ravens fan. They have a couple of Buckeyes, which always helps, and I’m a big fan of Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, and Zay Flowers from BC.
Kansas City Chiefs +400
This probably hosts the best chance at winning, but there’s not a lot of fun rooting for the favorite, and they have enough bandwagon action to make the Chiefs an unattractive choice here. I’d like the pay out to exceed 1000 and I’m not putting up 250 to get there.
Buffalo Bills +800
Fun team, fun quarterback, seems like they have the dogs to get it done and get over the hump. James Cook and Amari Cooper are two of my favorite players and I’d like to see Amari win. I’m a big Josh Allen fan and think this team will have a chance to win it all if he stays healthy. They should cruise in the AFC East and have it locked up before December starts. Probably my ideal choice.
Minnesota Vikings +1800

Now were in the fun odds zone of this poll. The Vikings have a great defense and a fun offense. Sam Darnold is the wild card, and they’ve already lost to the Lions putting them behind the 8 ball in the NFC North. But they would be a fun horse that would allow me to root against the Packers and Lions down the stretch.
Houston Texans +2500
CJ Stroud is a bad man and he’s a great Buckeye, I just don’t think this team has the legs to make a run. Their D-Line is great, but their offense looks broken. Might be worth the flier at 2500 because they are going to easily win the AFC South but I need to see what they look like when Nico Collins comes back to buy in.
Seattle Seahawks +20000
These odds are crazy to me. They have the same Super Bowl odds as the Cowboys who are likely about to continue their skid to 5 or 6 games with the Eagles, Texans, and Commanders on the horizon. If I’m considering this I might as well stick with the Cowboys and double down.
Cincinnati Bengals +4500
Another appetizing pick. Buckeye adjacent QB, I have a handful of college friends who are big Bengals fans, they have been to the Super Bowl recently, but they have a steep hill to climb. If they beat Baltimore on Thursday these odds will drop to 3500-3000 so the time might be now.
Pittsburgh Steelers +4000
I think the Steelers stink. I mean they lost to the Cowboys on primetime at home. I don’t know how they make a run against a team with a legit QB like Buffalo or KC. Their best asset is that they have been competitive with Baltimore. IDK
So, voters of America. Help me decide. Which horse do I ride now that the Cowboys have gotten the Seabiscuit treatment in 2024?
