Experimental Modal Analysis: A Practical Overview???
by Peter Avitabile, Ph.D.
Wednesday July 26th & Thursday July 27th
Modal analysis is an essential technology behind solving noise and vibration problems. This seminar focuses on the measurements needed to make a successful test as well as the reduction of that data to obtain the dynamic characteristics of a structure or system – that is the frequency, damping and mode shapes. Discussion on some of the common pitfalls and misconceptions are presented in this seminar. Impact measurements will be made to illustrate a typical modal test with a roving hammer. In addition, measurements with also be taken with SIMO and MIMO shaker data acquisition. Data acquired will be reduced to show the entire process for development of the modal model.?
Seminar will be led by: Dr. Pete Avitabile, Professor Emeritus University of Massachusetts Lowell
