TUESDAY THOUGHT
Started my morning listening to the late Dr. Wayne Dyer talk about the "5 Lessons We Can Live By" really resonated with me. As a father, son and leader, given the world we live in, we are not promised anything but the list truly applies to everything that life encompasses:
1. When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change: How simple a notion but yet so profound. I believe it doesn't start with how you start your day but how you end your day. We are bombarded daily with the stresses of life, work, relationships and at the end of the day we are exhausted. What I realized that how I prepare myself before I go to bed, has really shifted how I start my morning. I have moved away from the chaos and noise of our current political cycle and the current state of the ugliness of our world, to focus on the things we should be grateful and thankful for. Our health, family, home and the list can go on and on, if we just stop and think about it.
2. There are no justified resentments: We've all been wronged or have wronged someone. Broken crayons can still color and we all have unspeakable hurts and pains that have impacted us in some way, shape or form. We think keeping it locked up inside and not letting it go will make everything ok, but what we miss is that the anger, hurt, pain and resentment we might feel towards someone might transfer over to someone who has never done anything to us. We have to "LET IT GO "(ELSA SAID IN FROZEN) for us to truly be who God placed us on this earth to be.
3.What you think, is what you become: The person who is responsible for your mindset and what you think is YOU! I have realized for me to be who I know that I need to be for the people who love me, I have to have a spirit of LOVE, HOPE, JOY and HAPPINESS and it starts with my thoughts. In addition to what you think, your word can decide who you can become. If you speak negatively, you will most likely attract the negative, but if you change what you are saying (AND THINKING) and speak and think positive into existence, I believe you will ultimately see a shift in your life
4. Have a mind that is OPEN TO EVERYTHING but ATTACHED TO NOTHING: A mentor of mine once told me, "Todd, you have to have a growth mindset but open to learning to truly see the possibilities of what life has to offer." We were designed and created to grow. Like in nature, healthy things grow. If we are not open to growing and developing, new opportunities will likely pass us by.
5.Don't die with your music still in you: I think the Bee Gees summed it up best given the current world we live in, "AH, AH, AH, AH STAYIN ALIVE, STAYIN ALIVE!" (YES I MIGHT EVEN HAVE SANG IT AS I TYPED IT). If you could have one song that would define you and your life, WHAT WOULD IT BE? There are those songs that just make you smile and can change your mood the minute it comes on. A little Beastie Boys, Toby Mac, Miles Davis and Metallica can always get me moving and pick me up when I need a lift or a song to sing while you drive!!
It's easy to let the pressures of life knock you down and the pressure will get you. Life cannot be all work and no play. We have been created to laugh, have fun and smile.
My challenge for you this week, FIND SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU LAUGH!!
You want the secret of life????? It's pretty simple....LAUGH, LIVE AND LOVE!
Wishing you continued good health, happiness, blessings and success,
