[TuesDate] What is your color today?

Happy Tuesday! :)

Hope you're doing well and hope you are healthy.

What is your color today?

I'll share more about this color code with you in a while.

How's your health?

It's so cliche when you hear people say, "Health is wealth."

But it's so true.

I was down with a fever for a week.

At the peak of my not feeling well, everything was a struggle.

Breathing was labored. Standing up and walking from my bedroom to the sala was like a heavy workout.

I would wake up in the morning, move to the sala, and fall asleep.

I'd wake up to eat lunch or dinner, then fall asleep again.

Before I knew it, it's already 9 PM and it was time to go to sleep... again! Hahaha!

For a week, all I did was sleep all day and all night.

I probably slept for 20 hours per day on average, and I never felt I overslept!

I am 100% well now, thank God! I also got tested, it's not Covid.

(Though I tested negative for Covid, I still self isolated and didn't leave my condo unit for 10 days to protect my family, friends, and neighbors).

So grateful for my family and friends who prayed for me, who constantly checked on me, and who sent me food.

Our condo guards were also so helpful. Since I couldn't work, my team also covered for me. Thanks, team! :)

One of the things I learned at the peak of my fever was to learn to ask for help.

I allowed my family and friends to "see" me in the midst of my struggles.

I also allowed them to love me.

My brother and sis-in-law constantly monitored my temperature.

They also tele-consulted a doctor for me (Thanks, Doc!), then they brought me fruits and medicines.

I shared with my friends how I wanted to be loved during that time.

I shared with this sweet friend, "Please be gentle and malambing with me using words."

To another friend who called me up and asked what food I was craving, I said,

"Awwww, thank you! I want this from Mary Grace... please add choco mousse and mushroom soup, too!" Hehe!

I learned it's okay to ask for help.

It's okay to allow yourself to be seen.

It's okay to allow the right people to see you in your struggles.

We don't have to appear strong all the time.

This also applies at work.

When things get too heavy, it is okay to ask for help. In fact, you should ask for help.

Otherwise, you may compromise your health, clients, and company.

Okay, back to color coding.

In our team, we apply this?Green, Orange, and Red color code?which I learned from my mentor James Taylor.

On a given day, I'd ask my team members.

"What's your color today?"

Green?means my workload is light, and I can offer help if needed.

Orange?means my workload is just right, and I can't take any additional load.

Red?means I'm overloaded, I need help.

I also told my team to proactively let me know if any of them is red so we can adjust.

E.g. Red can ask for help from Green. Or I can let them know which task needs to be prioritized and which task can be delayed.

When I had a fever for a week, I was redder than red.

I needed a lot of help -- prayers, sweet and gentle words, acts of service...

I am grateful for all the help I've received.

What's your color today? :)

Are you green, orange, or red?

I wish you love, joy, and peace today and every day! :)

Cheers,

Sha

P.S.?Do you feel "seen" and appreciated by your family? friends? colleagues? Do you feel seen and appreciated by your boss?

Regardless of our age, race, or economic position, we all have this basic need.

We all want to be "seen" and appreciated.

When you feel seen and appreciated, you soar high.
