Is Tucker Carlson so different from *progressive* leaders we support?

I’m a frequent viewer of Fox News.?

No, not because I support the ideology, but because it gives me an insight into how my clients (and their employees) are being influenced.?

And for years, I’ve witnessed liberal outrage aimed at Tucker Carlson, followed by the smug reactions following his firing on Monday.?

Here’s the thing, Tucker isn’t really that different from a lot of the leaders you and I support. Just like Tucker's empty rhetoric and performative outrage, these CEOs love to spout off about diversity and inclusion but fall woefully short in actually taking meaningful action. It's all smoke and mirrors.?

They throw around buzzwords like "diversity" and "inclusion" to polish their public image. Just like Tucker Carlson's divisive and harmful rhetoric, these CEOs pay lip service to DEI, while maintaining the status quo and perpetuating systemic biases in their own companies.?

They use flashy buzzwords and hashtags to create the illusion of progress, while actively ignoring the real issues at hand. They're quick to virtue signal and express outrage on social media, but when it comes to actually implementing structural changes, they look away. Just like Tucker Carlson's controversial rhetoric, their empty promises and superficial gestures are designed to score PR points.?

And you might read this and say, well, at least they aren’t damaging the state of our democracy by spreading lies.?

Well, aren’t they??

  • This year we’ve seen leaders of so-called progressive companies engage in wage suppression and union busting (ahhh…Howard Schultz).?
  • We’ve seen the most inhumane layoffs from companies that top the best places to work lists.?
  • We see leaders talk about employee wellbeing and make political contributions to those that are actively working to remove any/all worker protections.?

All of those actions are just as corrosive, maybe more.?

And just like Dominion taking Fox to court, workers are filing lawsuits against companies for not following through on equity and inclusion pledges.?

If you want to do better and shift away from empty promises and half-hearted efforts (and let's face it, avoid lawsuits) subscribe to my community-only newsletter for concrete actions.

Respectfully Aparna R. I disagree. ALL (et al) are commercial platforms providing entertainment disguised as newsworthy content. The fish continue to take the bait and get aroused. Stop buying the products supporting the media and the message content will change. Simple and impossible.
