TTC mechanical switches used by Logitech Keyboard K845
The Logitech K845 was derived from K840 with the same design, as an entry level mechanical keyboard, it's made for both typing and gaming. In this model, it offers customers the right to choose the switches, either Cherry or TTC switches! For TTC, there are blue, red, brown switches to choose; for Cherry, there are red and blue.
The specs look same on their official website, for blue switch, both make come with 2.2 mm pre-travel, 4.0 mm total travel, operating force 50 gf, attenuation is different, TTC declares 60 Million cycles, while Cherry says 50 M.
TTC Vs Cherry:
Disassemble the TTC blue switches:
The Contact is silver plated copper, as shown above
Compare the axis and spring below:
Although the 2 makes have the same specs, the feel of using is different.
When the Cherry red shaft is pressed, there is a slight friction on the side wall of the shaft core, and the friction gets weaker when bottoming out; However the friction on the side wall of the shaft core of the TTC shaft body is smaller, and the drop stroke is sharp, the bottom feedback force is larger, so there will be a relatively large key sound at typing, of course, this is not a paragraph sound similar to the green switch, but the sound when the shaft hits bottom.
The listing price for keyboards with TTC switch is 30% less than that made with Cherry's. It looks this model of keyboard sells unexpectedly well, guess which make sells more ? Logitech knows the answer.
