● LOS ANGELES 2028: Donald Trump has been projected to win the U.S. Presidency, and is in line to open the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. He would be the fourth U.S. President to open an Olympics, following 1984 (Reagan), 1996 (Clinton) and 2002 (G.W. Bush). ● OLYMPIC GAMES: IOC chief Thomas Bach told an audience of 100 young reporters, organized by the International Sports Journalists Association that venue choices for an Olympic Games are a key to sustainability. ● Olympic Games 2036: India submitted a letter of interest to organize the 2036 Olympic Games on 1 October, despite the continuing chaos within its National Olympic Committee.
● Boxing: The French boxing federation board decided to leave the International Boxing Association in favor of joining World Boxing to try and keep the sport on the program for Los Angeles 2028. The decision must be confirmed by a vote on 14 December.
? Retired Russian boxer and Athens 2004 gold medalist Alexander Povetkin was provisionally suspended by the International Testing Agency for a doping positive back in 2014. He says he won’t fight it, as he retired for good in 2021.?
● Football: FIFA announced that it will accept bids for the U.S. television rights to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil (and 2031 also) on 3 December. Fox has been the rights-holder in the U.S. under a deal from 2015-2026.?
● Sailing: Dutch star Marit Bouwmeester, the most decorated Olympic women’s sailor ever, was honored as the women’s Rolex World Sailor of the Year in ceremonies in Singapore. Spain’s Diego Botin and Florian Trittel, winners of the 49er class in Paris, were the men’s winners.? ?
