U.S. GOVERNING BODIES: The U.S. national federations for cycling, fencing, rowing, sailing, squash have banded together for a joint marketing initiative, the "United Sports Collective." Paris 2024: Three U.N. “Special Rapporteurs” released a statement both praising and criticizing French security forces for their work during the 2024 Olympic Games. The Games were safe and secure, but the three commentators said some of their efforts went too far. Observed: Easy to write six months after all went well.?

Athletics: World Athletics announced 11 “wild card” entries into the 2025 World Indoor Championships in China, based on winning the World Indoor Tour series. Two Americans – Brian Faust and shot star Chase Jackson – won their events and are in!

Curling: Canadian curler Briane Harris, provisionally suspended for a banned substance but later cleared by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, has filed a complaint against the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, alleging breaches of confidentiality that showed up on a Reddit post.

Figure Skating: The ISU Figure Skating Awards will be handed out on 30 March in Boston during the 2025 World Championships. Voting is now open through Sunday (9th) for fans to support their favorites, including multiple nominees from the U.S.?

Gymnastics: Paris Olympic Team gold medalist Jordan Chiles, still appealing her disqualification in the Floor Exercise final, has a new book out about her life. She’s not sure about whether she will try to compete for a team spot in 2028, however.

Nordic Skiing: More of the same at the FIS Nordic Skiing Worlds in Norway, as home superstar Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo won his third race in a row on the men’s side and Swede Ebba Andersson won her second straight, again in a tight finish with Norway’s Therese Johaug.?

??A Norwegian anti-oil activist group is planning a disruption of Saturday’s men’s 50 km Freestyle Mass Start race in Trondheim, with athletes urging them not to disturb the competition. Discussions with local police are continuing.?
