● RUSSIA: A charm offensive is underway in Russian sport as the Sports Minister says it "needs to stop with accusations, insults" toward the IOC, ahead of the Presidential election next March. Moreover, arrangements are being found to pay back dues to the World Anti-Doping Agency. All in an attempt to get Russian athletes back to international competition. ● London 2012: No appeal was filed by Russian Tatyana Tomashova over the Athletics Integrity Unit’s disqualification in the London 2012 women’s 1,500 m final, the fifth athlete sanctioned for doping in that single race! Her removal from the results moves American Shannon Rowbury up to the bronze medal position, and the IOC is now free to re-allocate the medals.
● Paris 2024: A French government report about 2025 budgets indicated that security spending by the national government on the Olympic and Paralympic Games was €1.14 billion or about $1.21 billion U.S.?
? The International Testing Agency filed its report on testing prior to the 2024 Paris Games, with almost 90% of all athletes tested, an all-time high. Moreover, 97% of Paris medalists were tested at least once.?
● Milan Cortina 2026: Construction of the new sliding track in Cortina d’Ampezzo is continuing and on time, according to the government Olympic infrastructure company. Certification trials are set for next March.
● International Olympic Committee: The IOC named Ukrainian pole vault coach Vitailiy Petrov and British diving coach Jane Figueiredo as the IOC's Coaches Lifetime Achievement Award winners for 2024.
● Russia: The Russian Olympic Committee reported income of 643.1 million rubles for November 2023 to September 2024, about $6.39 million U.S. Yep, that’s it.?
● Alpine Skiing: After her eighth win in the FIS women’s World Cup Slalom at Levi, Finland, American star Mikaela Shiffrin named her eighth reindeer “Rori.”?
● Basketball: U.S. Olympic gold medalists Sue Bird, Sylvia Fowles and Cappie Pondexter were elected to the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame and will be inducted next June.?
● Boxing: The Asian Boxing Confederation will meet on 23 November to decide whether to affiliate with an international federation that is recognized by the IOC, essentially leaving the International Boxing Association.
