● LANE ONE: The trash talk continues between Miami Dolphins star receiver Tyreek Hill and Olympic men’s 100 m champ Noah Lyles, with Hill saying he’ll beat Lyles and proposing a race at 50 yards. 50 yards? ● DOPING: The World Anti-Doping Agency published its annual report for 2023, detailing its efforts in governance, research and coordination, but no testing or violations stats, which are separately reported. Its finances are healthy, demonstrating that its largest donor is the International Olympic Committee at almost 47%, equal to the share contributed by governments. The U.S. share is 7% of the total.

● LOS ANGELES 2028: The move from Los Angeles to Oklahoma City’s world-class Riversport OKC facility for the 2028 Olympic Canoe Slalom races is fully in line with what the IOC is looking for in the future, says IOC Sports Director Kit McConnell. It’s a venue which didn’t even exist when L.A. started bidding for the 2024 Olympic Games!

● Paralympic Games 2024: The French Interior Minister said 25,000 police officers will provide security for the Paris Paralympics, along with 10,000 private security staff.

● Paralympic Games 2024: The Paralympic Torch Relay will start on 24 August at Stoke Mandeville, England, the site of a sports competition for injured veterans of World War II that eventually became the Paralympic Games.

● Paralympic Games 2024: The French government prohibited any Russian media from being accredited for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. They just did the same for the Paralympics.

● Cycling: Three-time winner Primoz Roglic of Slovenia took the lead in the 2024 Vuelta a Espana after a win in stage 4, the first climbing stage.

● Football: Although not formally announced, reports have ex-Chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino of Argentina as the next U.S. men’s National Team manager. If so, the schedule of his first four matches has been confirmed in September and October against Canada, New Zealand, Panama and Mexico.

● Football: FIFA announced its first-ever global banking sponsor, Bank of America, for the 2026 World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the U.S.

● Football: FIFA is under pressure about the expansion of its Club World Cup and other matches, and has been threatened with a lawsuit by the FIFPRO players association and the World Leagues Association, but says it is ready to engage in talks with both groups.

● Shooting: American star Kim Rhode, who won medals in six straight Olympic Games, says she is ready to make a run at the U.S. team for the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

● Tennis: Italian Jannik Sinner, the world’s top-ranked men’s player, tested positive twice for a prohibited substance in March and was briefly suspended. A panel now found that Sinner did not intend to dope and held him without fault. WADA can appeal.
